IIRC, pre-war Ukraine had the largest army in Europe. Its loss would a massive humiliation for DC, I don't care what Trump tweets.
As for Zelensky leaving, there is no one who could replace him and comply with any peace agreement. The only viable candidates are militarists, like Zaluzhny or Budanov, or ultra-nationalists like Poroshenko.
