The US' primary interest in the situation has always been that a Russia who has gotten a taste of westward territory-grabbing will 110% try and do it again, and that time it will be an actual NATO country because those are the only options left aside from formally annexing Belarus instead of de facto via puppeteering. At the very least they no longer have the means to do that even with Soviet-era stockpiles which are now depleted, their production capabilities have been severely hamstrung, and it will take generations to recover from their troop loss unless they start pulling from the Muscovite population for conscription, which would be political suicide.
