Europe, especially the Western portion, not making sufficient defense commitments is not just a matter of Euro's and Pounds, but Flesh and Blood as most European countries don't have enough military personnel.

This, NATO does not function as intended and the whole of Europe would be less than useless in a global conflict. The US owes them nothing as their obligations to NATO have been so thoroughly ignored that they can't be reasonably expected to wage a conflict.

The US might be leaving NATO for obvious reasons, but Europe was who destroyed it by making it a pointless endeavor that made the US their personal sword and shield to die and spend money in their place.

If Europe cared about NATO they would have met their treaty obligations. But they refused to do so and now they're stuck facing a war they can't possibly win with nobody to defend them because they don't deserve to be defended.

Even since the Cold War, American support was a must but a lot has changed since then namely the disintegration of the Warsaw Pact and rot of Russia.

All I want is the EU and UK to have maintained about 80% of its peak Cold War defense. That translated to today would have avoided this whole shit show.

I have a poorly thought out theory about the Trump Zelensky blow up today. This actually kind of a political win for all the power players. The euro fags can now justify the price tag of a non useless military to their constituents because they can blame orange turbo Hitler for “abandoning Europe.” Zelensky gets the same support he always did because Europe has replaced the US as the welfare donor. And trump gets to stop sending infinity dollars into a lost cause war. Submitted for your ridicule is my half baked theory that European leaders had Zelensky pick a fight on purpose.

That assumes the EU can actually make up the difference if the US backs out. Maybe they can, but there's no way in hell they will, at least not without making it another loan and expecting it to be paid back with interest.
