You Know What Grinds My Gears? - Things that personally piss you off

People who rub in error AFTER the error was admitted. Once a person has admitted error and is looking into avoiding that error in the future, there is no need for pushing the "what were you thinking?" line of dialogue. Once a person has admitted error, simply give them a time frame to reflect and come back later with a polite line of questions to see if they are following up on corrective steps. In my experience, sore winners are also sore losers. Sore losers go to the ends of the earth to avoid admitting error. Some exceptions exist, but people who are gracious winners tend to be gracious losers and people who are gracious losers tend to be gracious winners. It is rare that you find these traits in opposition to the other. Justice without mercy is not justice.

"Or... and just hear me out.... Maybe... Just maybe.... "

The one Redditism that sends a shudder through me, like a cold draft through the bones. There are worse specimens on Insta and YouTube but I’d take a hundred of them over the dismal, smug drone of a Reddit philosopher.

It's right up there with "Tell me you/you're X without telling me you/you're X" in terms of phrases that immediately make me dismiss the """""person""""" using it.

Add points if they end a comment with a smug "Hope this helps!" I hope you get caught under an eighteen wheeler.

My favorite is the smug cunts who piss at you and go "Don't be dense!"

Or if you actually try to humor the idiot and ask what their deal is when they go "Yikes, sis" or whatever.

But instead of answering you, they just say "Uhm educate yourself!"

What is your fucking problem, you stupid gremlin fuck?

People who are always accusing others of misconduct to take the focus off themselves. It isn't enough to simply try to sneak their own liquor bottles into the bar and keep their heads down, they have to harass the staff, accuse them of preferential treatment, accuse them of underpouring their shots and so forth, putting them on the constant backfoot to try to take the focus off the fact that THEY'RE the ones who need to be put under a microscope. This goes quadruple to people who accuse others of infidelity while being the cheaters themselves. The people who demand access to every conversation you ever have are the same people who are doing untoward things behind your back. These people are abject scum.

Sounds like classic projection. Yeah, those people suck. "Rules for the, not for me" Yeah, no, fuck you.

Counterpoint, if they're saying something that's genuinely helpful advice, a "hope this helps" just feels like someone is trying to be a genuine person.

Tax: Repetition in TV. Especially with reality TV shows, you don't need to play the same clip 35 times.

You're supposed to move at the speed of traffic really no matter what, it's the only good way to drive on the road.
No, just no. I've heard others claim this, and it's just the most smooth brained, selfish take on driving there is. For example, I had a co-worker I was travelling with who insisted it was safer to "keep up" with traffic on the freeway instead of observing the posted limit. No, what's safer is to maintain within 5 over the posted limit in one of the rightmost lanes depending on how many there are, and simply let fast moving traffic pass you. "Keeping up" just means you're closer in contact to other vehicles, and last I checked puts you at higher risk of a collision than let's say, being farther away.

This also applies to local traffic. For example where I live there is a road that has a 30mph limit over about a 2.5 mile stretch where it's heavily commercial and retail, with some residential mixed in. Besides myself I hardly ever observe anyone keeping it around 30-35, everyone seems to go 40, 45, 50mph. These aren't reckless speeds, so what's the big deal? It's that it makes vehicles exiting the adjacent parking lots that aren't directly controlled by a traffic light, which are most of them, difficult to do so because of the volume of traffic flying by. If everyone stayed around 30mph, the traffic lights would regulate the flow to accommodate these vehicles in exiting the lots safely, particularly when making a left turn.

Remember, we share the road. You, nor anyone else "owns" it.

The time Reddit went mask off against the people at r/landlordlove forever shattering even the auspices that they believe in free speech or free expressions. A bunch of literal communists were told to grow the fuck up and they demonstrated exactly how they'd use power if they had any. Imagine that instead of banning people from just one web site, they could ban people from the earth? Fortunately, none of these faggots are equipped to achieve that level of power, but jeezus fucking Christ. Remember to include a generous gratuity for your landlord this month.

This is literal retardation. You can move at the same pace as traffic while maintaining distance. In fact, you would only gain proximity if you were moving faster than the traffic in front of you; which is the case for all the traffic suddenly made into a hazard themselves when they’re stuck behind your slow ass.

At least keep to the right so you can be passed properly.

This is 100% an issue with the existing lights, wherein drivers are stopped by every one of them. Driver psychology then inclines them to drive faster to try and beat the next one, even if that’s ineffective. The lights are probably on sensors, and don’t prioritize the main thoroughfare enough.

That being said, pulling out into 45 mph traffic, even from a residence, is a matter of patience rather than skill. Just wait for a gap, because there will always be a gap; and if turning left is too unlikely, turn right and then u-turn at the light or something. Inflexibly committing to a maneuver is just as retarded as inflexibly committing to the speed limit.

Remember, we share the road. You, nor anyone else "owns" it.
Traffic is a river: fighting to go faster is a wasted effort and going slower turns you into a hazard.

The people who have a public reputation of being "the fun one" who is always the last to leave the party, but always has someone in the shadows cleaning up their messes once the party ends. These are always the people who overconsume substances and the people who go mad when left alone with their own thoughts. Healthy people are content to leave the party at a healthy hour. The people who need to keep the party going are fucking trouble. Stay away from them. I may be a curmudgeonly bastard, but at least I tell it straight and don't bullshit anyone.

Idiots who, despite knowing they're infected with something that will easily spread, take zero precautions, being so stupid about it that you'd swear they're doing it deliberately. For the last few days, I've been sick with a throat infection that made me feel like I was going to suffocate, all because someone decided to open cough all over me when I was queuing at a shop this weekend. Even if things like strep and the cold will inevitably spread around if anyone who's infected crosses paths with enough people who aren't, it's not hard to show a little decency and at least try to not give everyone else your germs.
Sounds like this manchild tard I work with, he has no ability to cover his nose when he sneezes, but one day he took it to a new level when he had a cold and started doing that thing when you cover one nostril and shoot the snots out the other but he was doing it on the warehouse floor at work. One of the most vile people I have ever encountered.

Slight PL: I work at a hotel.

Never fails. Every time I think I have a few minutes to use the restroom, that’s when I keep getting called to solve a crisis. Hotel can be completely quiet, cool, I really need to have a few minutes to take care of business. Feels like the nanosecond I sit down, I’ll either have front desk calling me because of some dipshit guest, or maintenance calling me to assist with something or other etc.

Can I just shit in peace? Please?

I was reminded the other day how much I dislike it when people say "a thou" as in "a thousand". It doesn't sound right at all and it should be removed from the lexicon.
its ok when referencing measurements like saying something needs 50 thou taken off it
I may be a curmudgeonly bastard,
I'm amazed you even know what a party is actually

I went to a General Practitioner, because for some reason, I didn't have one. I know I have some health problems, so I figured I'd do something about them.

The doctor agrees I'm a little overweight for my size. Which, I agree with, in addition to my a1c being high in the normal range. I'm not pre-diabetic, at least not at the moment. For those not aware: a1c is a snapshot of blood glucose over 3 months, not glucose in the moment.

So the doc prescribes me Metformin, which apparently is in the same family as shit like Ozempic. It also seriously fucked with my hormones. It made me weepy. I had breakthrough bleeds and some of the worst periods I've ever had. So, I stopped taking it about 1-2 weeks before my latest blood test.

My resting glucose came back "normal", but my a1c is now top of the scale for normal. I ask for a prescription for a continuous glucose monitor. The nurse who works for the doctor says "well, that only tracks glucose on the spot, and a1c is over 3 months", and that since my resting glucose is in the normal range, monitoring it regularly wouldn't do anything useful. As if somehow those things aren't related.

So, you're telling me that keeping track of the one metric that feeds into the bigger metric isn't worth tracking? It doesn't occur to her that if my glucose is normal but my a1c is high that there's some fundamental mismatch that I shouldn't be monitoring? Then she fucking diverts back into, well, I really need to watch my diet.

Well, then, WHAT IN THE FUCK WAS THE METFORMIN FOR?

Oh, so that's why I don't have a GP. Got it.

The sensation of pain is BS. Why couldn't it be automatic reflex to pull away from whatever is doing the damage instead?

Also it's BS that people can't regenerate lost parts, but starfish can. Also lizards can too, but only their tails.

I can see where that "FROM THE MOMENT I UNDERSTOOD THE WEAKNESS OF MY FLESH IT DISGUSTED ME" meme comes from.
