Even if the tariffs have negative consequences for the US (mostly for poor people), the orange nigger can't just stop them and say "my bad" can he? That would mean admitting defeat and that he fucked up. The tariffs are most likely here to stay for at least 4 years.

He can't, but not because he literally can't, but because he is utterly unable ever to admit fault for anything. However, he has done them by statutory authority (improvidently) granted by Congress, which could also withdraw that authority. Even a Republican Congress is likely to do that if the results are immediately disastrous.

I'm legitimately surprised that there are still people who think super-high tariffs are a good way to bring manufacturing back to America.

I am thankfully no American, but I'm not sure about Trump anymore. I like/liked him, and thought his inaugural speech was very very good.
There are a few points for my doubt:
Although I don't particularly like Zelensky I don't like how Trump and especially JD talked to him. Especially their accusation of his unthankfulness came across as very petty and uncalled for. Trump also seems to be more interested in a deal to get as much money for America then actually stopping the war. Him withdrawing aid from Ukraine now dooms them in any kind of negotiation.
The people he surrounds himself with, especially elon. Is the Doge stuff incredible? Yes. Is it funny? Yes. Could a non-retarded and non-cringe person that doesn't pretend to game 8h a day do it? Yes.
Him bringing the Tate's into the States.
Lastly, I'm not sure if the economy isn't going to implode with how many enemies he is creating.

People are spending less and companies are cutting back on investments due to an erratic administration levying tariffs against the country's three largest trade partners, seemingly out of spite, which will raise prices (or just make people more aware of older price hikes).
