I mean, it's cheap ass plastic. It's sure more motivating to train with equipment that doesn't feel like absolute trash.

He's skinnyfat as fuck, the most physically demanding activity he's done in the past 10 years was slamming his chair into the ground. If you wanna start training and improving yourself, you start small and steady and turn the initial motivation into discipline. You don't need fancy equipment or fitbit or supplements or whatever else you think feels "motivating".
It doesn't matter if it's cheap ass plastic, all that matters is he starts working out regularly and begins rewiring and healing his fried brain. He needs a cheap $5 jump rope and a pushup/pullup routine for beginners. He needs to teach his brain that slow and steady progress beats instant gratification.
Which I don't see him doing because I bet the crack abuse has significantly reduced his neuroplasticity and he's as stable as nuclear decay.

Initially I paused to admire the carpet, then I noticed his shoe rack that mysteriously disappeared from the wall behind him since a week ago or so, and it's missing almost all shoes. He did ask where he could sell shoes, not long after he got out of jail.
