Misogyny isn't a word that's really used in this thread a lot when we talk about male reactors. That's more of a reddit thing. I think it's been used as a criticism of other women more than it has been men.

I can't say I am a careful GG listener. It's possible he yells at other men for being misogynists, but I can't really recall him doing that. If you say so, I believe you. Misogyny is A Thing in segments of the gay male community. A big, ugly thing, but #NotAllGayMen. Has he ever said something misogynist? Probably. But in all the definitions I have for GG, some of them not flattering, misogynist isn't one of them.

Jordy and Snowfag are something else all together. These are deeply creepy, obsessed, angry, disturbed little men who do things like smear an innocent woman as a murderer and a serial killer, and they were not joking. They focus (disdainfully) on body parts which are characteristically female, which is objectification. An object is not human.

This is a big subject with thousands of years of historical and cultural context, so this is my very abbreviated two cents.

I can't speak to whether GG is a misogynist. Nor will I speak for others. Speaking personally, if I don't bring up GG all that often, it's bc I don't watch him all that often.

I agree that GG doesn't come in for a great deal of criticism now, which was not always the case. Summer 2020 he came in for a great deal of well-deserved criticism for his round-the-clock feuds with other reactors (artist rendering: post).

My main objection to GG is his tendency to excuse his own actions (hardly unique in this community):

He has gone hard on Samantha's family, yet objects when Samantha goes hard on his family. I don't know who struck the first blow. Quite frankly, it hardly matters.

Out of context, a man ranting about someone's stripper daughters is not a great look.

GG claims the stripper comments are in reference to Sam's mothering, not the daughter's choices. I'm unconvinced.

There are ways to criticize Samantha (and let's not forget Samantha's then-husband!) for setting up a pathway for their daughters (via negligence), which led them into a deeply exploitative environment.

Which leads later to Samantha and Yaba giggling like perverts about the daughters having the skills to pay the bills!

Alternatively, they were two 18-/19-year-olds asserting their sexuality. The sacred feminine in its purest expression in the hallowed, airport-adjacent lounge of the modern Temple of Astarte.

Likewise, it's not a great look for a woman to rant about a man singing "Sometimes When We Touch" while changing his mother's diaper, before pinching and slapping her for having defecated herself.

Actually, I'm not sure context improves that one. Unless Samantha was riffing on the opening to Rick Moody's Purple America?

I suppose I'm asking for nuance. I'm not sure the reaction community is the place to find it, nor do I think it would do very well.

AK and Nikki P were recently complaining about GG (or JG, GJ, JJ, per Nikki) not getting scrutiny. I didn't find the Dear French Fried Gorl stream nearly as compelling as Nikki did, but I have some notes for that, and it could help fill in some of the FFG (FFJ?) lore.

Respectfully, you must not have been looking hard because it was just last week I was calling GG an attention drama whore who enjoys streaming about this bullshit and funny enough it almost directly answers your question (see quoted post below)

And the most important part he's not fucking batshit crazy. Like, the stuff he says just makes sense. It's logical. Its.... grounded in reality. I hope I don't come across as an asshole but what you're really asking is not "why isn't anybody critical of GG here" - what you're really saying is (or what it comes across as) is "I don't like GG and I don't see anybody dragging him here" and to that I say - be the change you want to see.

I didn't watch GG during his infamous era, so I can't speak to things he may have said at that time. I believe he's more or less crept into my rotation around the time Callie was going berserk.
While there's been times I've felt he's gone a bit far in relation to Sam's daughter, it's always felt too bluntly honest versus demeaning or misogynistic.
Using a woman's fertility as a weapon against her, obsessing about her vagina or sexual acts, rationalizing violence she's experienced as being justified or desired, basing a woman's worth on her perceived desirability: for me, these come from a hatred of women. In my opinion, the vast majority of Gorl world routinely celebrates these things. Both male AND female.
It's possible to dislike or even hate without having the core be reduced to a rejection innate womanhood. Or manhood.
At the same time, I take issue with those whom deflect criticism by claiming anyone speaking against them is misogynistic. Or racist. All the -ists and -isms.
As far as GG or Belinda not currently being skewered? Other folks are behaving so badly that they're getting all the attention. At some point, they'll fade away. Or be jailed. Or die. I am one of the people who have been fairly critical of GG. I dislike the streams where he gets so high he can't complete a thought. I dislike that he has seemed to coddle Peanut, who will go on gross sexualized tirades when GG shares vocal space with her. I dislike that when he has guests on, he seems so wrapped up in himself it's like he forgets he should have a back-and-forth with them, even acting annoyed with them with regularity. I get the ick when he admits he is constantly late with his members' perks while bitching about people grifting. As a forever-headphone user, his dogs barking in the background drive me insane.

As a very visual person, I super ultra mega hate whenever he talks about his butthole. I cannot forgive Belinda for encouraging the balloon knot talk.

But what I've never gotten from GG is the vibe that he hates women. He talks glowingly about the people he surrounds himself with, people that he loves and cares about, and most of them seem to be women. A proper XX-hating gay would never. I was angry at something else at the time of posting and the whole "Jordy is a misogynist!" stuck out to me like a bit of a sore thumb. He's not really discussed all that much in my experience here (aside from your posts that I missed), though I do skip some posts that seem to be related to 370 and Scam because I just don't want to entertain that particular drama sometimes. Jordy talking about Amber's Mom's criminal record is the darkest I can think he's ever gone. I do know of Snowflake talking about Amber's sex life and he seems a bit obsessed with her. I watch Jordy quite regularly and I don't recall him ever talking about Amber like that. He started calling her a serial killer and began using the terms in the contextual frame of her job as a nurse. "Would you want a murderer caring for your loved one?" he would ask, implying his deranged audience had a moral duty to save the medically fragile by getting this murderer fired and her license revoked. And lo, people started fucking with her job. It was not a joke, it was a theme, and he was absolutely seething.

Then Snowfake began cosigning and repeating the theme.

Many of us felt like accusing someone (a nurse no less!) of being a murderer is on the same plane as accusing an innocent man of being a pedophile. That's not shit talk. That's the kind of defamation that could cause permanent damage to one's reputation and life.

I think in the case of GG, you are not defining the term misogyny correctly. In the same way that just because someone calls someone else a hood rat, it doesn’t mean they are racist, having a valid criticism or a beef with a woman doesn’t make one a misogynist.

For me, the difference is, GG doesn’t sit on the internet all day, everyday, making a living by picking at every little thing women do, say, act and feel in a malicious and hateful manner. He doesn’t try to get innocent women, total strangers, stoned in a Muslim country, disowned by all their family and friends or fired from their jobs or investigated for murder, like Yab, FFG, Gorlic, Jordy, Mr. Snowflake, and their ilk.
GG has particular criticism of specific women, for a specific reason, not just because they are a woman.

Some of these creators pick apart every little thing about women, how they talk, sit, eat, dress, smell, move, breath. they lie about them, they send irrational and undeserved hate for them.they want them to suffer and hopefully in the most lingering, painful and humiliating way.
The way they talk about women, in general, is with loathing. They hate a women, a stranger to them, who has done nothing particularly bad. On the contrary, these people have done worse to these woman than these woman has ever done to them, or really anyone else. They make their living verbally decimating women they don’t know, judging their every word and though, simply because.

I don’t watch Jordy, I’ve only ever seen clips here. He might be a totally great guy. Unfortunately, the clips I’ve seen haven’t presented him in that light.
