Why is Elon Musk so obsessed with 'ghost employees'?
I imagine it's because many large companies have employees who get a paycheck and do either very little or absolutely nothing in return. When I worked onsite for a large nameless corporation, one of the corp's employees literally slept all day when he showed up and had the flimsiest of excuses why. Additionally, some people get hired by cronies who promise them a paycheck in return for not having to work at all. Musk seems intent on identifying such individuals and firing them as much as possible because such workers are a drain and those wages eventually add up over time even if the number of ghost workers is a fraction of a percent.
As for Trump being hated for his efforts to have peace between Russia and Ukraine, it's not that surprising in today's political climate where people overlook the bigger picture: Trump trying to appeal to both sides to work something out. When Zelensky decided to have his tantrum, Trump naturally chose to appeal to Putin next. As discussed before, too many people view life in absolutes. Liberals are going to hate Trump simply because he's not liberal and they refuse to acknowledge the possibility he might favor or adopt policies that directly benefit them. They're unwilling and/or unable to accept the fact that pretty much every politician at every level is going to make decisions that are both likeable and unlikable while they are in office. The minute someone from the wrong party acts in a perceived wrong way, there is nothing but hate and vitriol in response. Someone earlier in the thread posted about their experience where a neutral "Can't we all just get along?" post led to screeching, blocks, and/or bans. Sadly, this has become the norm in all aspects of life where politics is permeating everything. I saw the same thing happen when Trump was elected the first time and nothing has changed since then.
News of the UAW or even Fain personally supporting Trump's tariffs is a big shock if true. It wasn't long ago that Fain was one of many on the Anti-Trump bandwagon who would rather drink battery acid over saying
anything positive about Trump. Politics really does make strange bedfellows.
As much as opponents are criticizing Trump's on and off tariff announcements as being wishy-washy or inconsistent, they're missing the bigger picture. It's a negotiation tool that has subsequently led to Mexico deciding they will in fact negotiate with the US if it means the tariffs are delayed or canceled. Meanwhile, Canada's government is akin to a drifting ship with no crew and a captain that would rather maintain the course down a self-destructive path than try to work out something that's mutually acceptable to both sides which would stave off a bad outcome.
