The author of the book that retconned the trash compactor creature also wrote other novels. Such as one about an African girl abducted by aliens who marvels them with her folk medicine. One about a pregnant African girl who fights for Alien Civil Rights in future America. One about aliens who make their capital on Earth in Lagos and only share their technology with the Nigerians. And another book about light-skinned aliens oppressing dark-skinned aliens who actually have superpowers, but don't use them because they hate violence. All of these books have won Hugo, Eisner, and Nebula awards.​
