Look up FutureCanoe’s older videos on an alt frontend or something if you can. He used a lot of substitutions, used his hands and a fork to mix his ingredients, and still isn’t afraid to show failed executions. He’s a spic who lives in Manhattan and shills for BetterHelp, but until recently he was more “regular” than other cooking channels.
I'd like to recommend SouthernFrugalMomma. She's a weirdo and does a bit at the end of each video where she tortures her family with taste tests, including her obviously autistic youngest son. BUT she specializes in "struggle meals" and has put out some absolute bangers such as going into Walmart with $5 and coming out with the ingredients for dinner for FIVE PEOPLE.
Somewhere along the line, the American populace has been convinced that cooking their own food is too hard/too expensive/too time consuming, and that each meal must be a gourmet masterpiece. Whereas it often takes an hour or more to get through a restaurant meal, it's grossly overpriced, and most of the food is microwaved anyway.
I remember seeing a video during the pandemic about a young woman who said going out to eat every night and not knowing how to cook was a flex because it meant you were successful in your career, and could humblebrag on X/Instagram by posting pictures of your food. She was forced to learn how to cook during Covid because all the restaurants were closed except for the drive thru. Tell me that's not political, that prior to 2020, knowing how to cook was devalued as poor people behavior.
My family used to make a weekly menu and shopping list on Friday, do a big shop on Saturday, and stick to the plan during the week. The whole issue is a lot easier if you already have a plan and have the ingredients on hand before you start, instead of deciding last minute what you want to eat, then shopping for the ingredients, then cooking it.
Youtubers who grandstand about social issues and yet accept sponships like that will never not be funny
I've taken to watching YouTube videos to the point that the shilling starts, then backing out of it. In the standard YouTube format, the part before the shilling is informative, while the part after the shilling is usually discussion/opinion, so you've already seen the meat of the video and can skip the post-shilling filler.
I also don't watch reaction videos, I just find the original source video and react to it myself. It's so annoying when some retard stops the video 10,000 times to insert their hot takes so they don't get a copyright strike. Then they start shilling Better Help, Established Titles, and Honey. Is there any YouTube sponsor that isn't an overpriced bullshit scam?
