We are seeking donations to cover the legal fees for my husband and his brother who were wrongfully arrested in Spokane with excessive use of force by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). On March 10, my husband, brother-in-law, and I were on our way to the Spokane Courthouse for our hearing. As we approached the courthouse, several unmarked cars blocked our way and we were surrounded by ICE agents. Knowing our rights, we asked the agents for proof of a warrant and began recording. The ICE agents did not present a warrant and instead demanded that we exit the vehicle. They then smashed the windows of our car and forcibly removed my husband and brother-in-law. The agents used excessive force, including a stun gun, until my husband was severely injured. He had to be transported to the hospital before being taken to the Tacoma Detention Center. We urgently need financial help to cover legal fees and fight against her deportation order. I am pregnant and my sister-in-law just gave birth to a one-month-old baby. Given our current situation, we are unable to work and we need financial support to cover her legal fees.
