UK British News Megathread - aka CWCissey's news thread

https://news.sky.com/story/row-over-new-greggs-vegan-sausage-rolls-heats-up-11597679

A heated row has broken out over a move by Britain's largest bakery chain to launch a vegan sausage roll.

The pastry, which is filled with a meat substitute and encased in 96 pastry layers, is available in 950 Greggs stores across the country.

It was promised after 20,000 people signed a petition calling for the snack to be launched to accommodate plant-based diet eaters.

But the vegan sausage roll's launch has been greeted by a mixed reaction: Some consumers welcomed it, while others voiced their objections.

Cook and food poverty campaigner Jack Monroe declared she was "frantically googling to see what time my nearest opens tomorrow morning because I will be outside".

While TV writer Brydie Lee-Kennedy called herself "very pro the Greggs vegan sausage roll because anything that wrenches veganism back from the 'clean eating' wellness folk is a good thing".

One Twitter user wrote that finding vegan sausage rolls missing from a store in Corby had "ruined my morning".

Another said: "My son is allergic to dairy products which means I can't really go to Greggs when he's with me. Now I can. Thank you vegans."

TV presenter Piers Morgan led the charge of those outraged by the new roll.

"Nobody was waiting for a vegan bloody sausage, you PC-ravaged clowns," he wrote on Twitter.

Mr Morgan later complained at receiving "howling abuse from vegans", adding: "I get it, you're all hangry. I would be too if I only ate plants and gruel."

Another Twitter user said: "I really struggle to believe that 20,000 vegans are that desperate to eat in a Greggs."

"You don't paint a mustach (sic) on the Mona Lisa and you don't mess with the perfect sausage roll," one quipped.

Journalist Nooruddean Choudry suggested Greggs introduce a halal steak bake to "crank the fume levels right up to 11".

The bakery chain told concerned customers that "change is good" and that there would "always be a classic sausage roll".

It comes on the same day McDonald's launched its first vegetarian "Happy Meal", designed for children.

The new dish comes with a "veggie wrap", instead of the usual chicken or beef option.

It should be noted that Piers Morgan and Greggs share the same PR firm, so I'm thinking this is some serious faux outrage and South Park KKK gambiting here.

As for the assisted dying bill, that shit is not passing. A judge not signing off means people signing off on it can be liable if it is investigated. The whole reason why you have a judge sign off on it is to avoid that very point. No doctor worth their salt would ever agree to carry out it. Bill is dead in the water.
This is the same country that has previously ruled, and now has official guidelines to say, that it is okay to rape so long as you are sufficiently diverse.

The judiciary since this started has shown themselves to be either strongly influenced by, or in natural agreement with, pretty much anything Starmer has said.

It'll pass. You wouldn't want to be the far right racist who didn't vote with Beloved Leader would you?

There appears someone on the inside who hates Starmer just as much as us.

Hall has also warned that "disinformation" in the aftermath of the Southport murders - and has called on police to do more to squash "cover-up" claims in future.
While he is right to say that expanding the definition of terrorism he's also quite happy to support putting the jackboot further on people's throats in other ways.

He was talking about squashing those claims by getting the police to actually tell the truth.

Saying the police need to do more to quash cover up talk is not saying to jackboot you in this instance.

Where did he say that the police need to quash them by telling the truth? I know articles tend to always put their own spin on it but all the stuff around it is focused more on the stopping people talking and punishing claims of cover ups. He certainly has said more could be revealed but that seems less of a priority than stopping people talking. He was saying the truth would help stop that but he still seems to be all in on punishing people for speculating on the internet.

Where did he say that the police need to quash them by telling the truth?

From his report, where he very politely castigates the police for staying silent rather than simply releasing the facts as they stood:

1.22. Ultimately, the process of “declaring” involves a combination of
legal definition and a sense of proportion. But because of the real or
imagined possibility of the police using terrorism in a selective or political
way, these are decisions for which the police are ultimately accountable,
and they should be properly recorded at the time.
1.23. There is a separate and equally important consideration about
what can or cannot be said because of contempt of court.
1.24. In the digital era, if the police do not take the lead in providing
clear, accurate and sober details about an attack like Southport, others
will.
Social media is a source of news for many people23 and near-
silence in the face of horrific events of major public interest is no longer
an option
.
1.25. Following Southport, the disinformation generated on social
media, combined with widespread allegations of a ‘cover-up’, risked far
more prejudice to any trial than the placement of undisputed facts about
the attacker in the public domain
. Whether or not the Contempt of Court
Act 1981 needs reform, the nature of prejudice in the digital age needs
to be understood.

Good job Rachel you fucking retard!

This is before any of Rachel's changes are even introduced. The services were up because people paying fees, etc., most likely leave the country. What is even more funny the dumb bitch is still saying growth, growth, growth. Saying it does not manifest it you dumb slag, you have actually to introduce policies that do so.

This rumoured second budget is 100% coming and we know it's going to be some how even worse then the first one.

I can already see the effects from the first one around me from how my own job and the jobs of friends and family have been made worse. God forbid a second one happens, I can't even think about what they could go after for taxes or cuts that could some how make things worse. Even the cutting of NHS England is a terrible idea as that's 16,000 people out of a job and who will be looking to apply for benefits just as they start cutting them.

Exactly, the woman is just flat-out retarded because cutting jobs when growth is down is going to make it spiral and the stupid bitch is too fucking inept to recognise a doom spiral.

edit I call this woman a bitch because she is. She is a communist retard who I have absolute contempt for because she is the antithesis of my economic beliefs. It does not reflect my view of women except Rayner she's a slag.

GDP per capita (much better measure of the wealth and productivity of a nation) will be an absolute nightmare rightnow. If only we hadn't flooded the country with millions of fighting age men who consume all the available resources and cause nothing but conflict...

Yes lets import millions from the turd world to boost GDP by having them spend money that's been given to them by the government who got it via taxing the natives. GDP is the biggest scam in economics, does nothing to help fix a country and my eyes glaze over every time I hear that "GDP have increased by 0.001%".

So my children are being shuffled off to Pakis or similar for dental treatment as they are NHS patients, about which of course I'm going to kick off. Has anyone else seen this going on? Also I was assigned to a random asian person for a harrowing hygienist session which I don't intend to repeat, and I certainly don't intend to put my children through that.
They are the majority of new entrants to the profession at certain dental schools. By some weird coincidence every time we have an opportunity for a new dentist I always find the white candidate the most impressive one.

The government too is very quiet today which makes me think that yesterday was the smoke of a "stable government" and today is the mirror.

This is where Starmer is just again retarded because this snake was going to announce cuts BEFORE the figures were released because he was trying to sneak them in. This is before the civil service cuts too which again will increase spending and make people on mass homeless. A lot of civil servants are on UC due to taxes putting them beneath living wages, and they have kids.

It all has a domino effect too, the bailiffs can't do evictions, which packs the courts. No police orders because they have been cut and cannot do it because they do not want to and because they don't have the manpower. I say to the other half that when it happens everything will go at once because it is all built upon itself but I am starting to think Starmer is provocating ruin because he thinks he will captain the ship. No you mong, have you listened to Betz or your best mate Tulip Siddiq, you're first retard. These people have no idea the chaos an uprising would entail it would be horrifying.

Remind me again why Liz Truss and Kami Kwazi were fired.
Remind me why Starmer hasn't sacked reeves and won some points with the people.
I noticed even one of the biggest Labour shills, previously all over X licking Starmers hole, Peter Stefanovic is now attacking Reeves and Starmer over the benefit cuts etc.
I reckon an implosion is imminent. If you can’t even get your paid shills in line.

Thank you for finding a source as I had heard this on my dog walk on multiple videos. So from what I can politically attain; Starmer had a cabinet meeting on Tuesday where multiple cabinet members walked out and forced resignation we do not know who but only that it was about half the cabinet and there was shouting. So we know Cooper and Rayner hate Reeves with a passion, this is correct as she is political poison.

After that, there were no resolutions but only Starmer losing half his cabinet which again basically forces resignation. Starmer called all MPs to Number 10 to discuss that and essentially route out his rebels but to no avail. We know about 100 backbenchers and half the cabinet is at risk now. This meeting did not go well and members left again with no resolution.

So who do I think if it's half the cabinet?

Rayner; absolutely, she would exit the martyr and to be honest part of her I imagine knows this is political suicide and would piss off the unions and constituents.

Streeting; is one of the few that has good ideas and is the golden child. Starmer has stolen his announcements for his benefit and his leaving with Rayner with a promise is a good deal for him.

Cooper; Yes as well because she and Rayner are in line to succeed Starmer and by walking out she avoids the blowback.

Reynalds, Reed, and Philipson along with Benn, Murray, and Stevens off too.

Starmer just did a sit down with The News Agents, and a couple things struck me:
-Talking about the NHS reorganization is the closest thing I've closest ever seen him to human. Really gives insight into who he is at heart: a spreadsheet-brained middle manager promoted so far past his level of incompetence that he can't see it with a telescope.
-He's clearly at least someone clued in on foreign policy because he refused to take the bait on the Bad Orange Man that hosts kept dangling in front of him
-No matter how breathtakingly, world-shatteringly stupid British politicians are, their chattering class is even dumber than that.

Is it normal for a sitting PM to do this kind of publicity tour? Feels a little... campaign-y.
