But the whole thing that makes that scene so tear jerking is that the last thing they said to each other was incredibly mean and Kevin wakes up to everyone gone and after the fun of being home alone fades he presumably thinks she just left him behind all alone on purpose, that alone time between them was more important however how brief it was.
So I'd still say comparing Catherine O'Hara to Anisa is extremely mean. If Anisa was Kevin's mom she wouldn't even have tried to rush home from France.

Still blows my mind that Ian fucked up his whole life and career for that. Something like the Johnny Depp/Amber Heard situation I could understand, especially if Ian had legit chemistry with Anus at the start.
