Everything is transactional and Mamachu has tough Tophia well to always blame other people and bite the hand that feeds. Let's be serious, Tophia goes to the hospital because she doesn't have anywhere else to be because she's homeless.

Tophia attacking other TikTokers for covering her brother's death is like seeing a dumb person try to commit extortion. It's done very sloppily. If she really had PTSD, even complex PTSD where she's only been emotionally traumatised, she'd be too emotional to explain her situation so concisely. This all just turn into another excuse and another shield to throw up when anyone criticises her. Clearly she loves the drama of this or she'd just not go live at all. This is just more attention for her and an opportunity for a push-pull dynamic. Everything she accuses the Internet of doing is just her delusions. She's not been mass de-platformered or banned from payment processors. The worst that the Internet has ever been done to her is people telling her to get a job when she's bitching about being homeless. She got kicked out of that hotel they were staying at after lousing their HUD because they were unhygienic and didn't pay. Nobody from the Internet went there and turned it into a stye. The Slydells did that all on their own. Given how she's acting, she's so delusion, she might be have a cluster B disorder or even BPD.

Of all the things in this story to be frustrated by, I know this is a ridiculous one, but it annoys me that PTSD has become a catch-all for any emotional response to a traumatic event. PTSD is by definition a disorder. You're supposed to have an emotional reaction when you experience trauma. Anyone would be a mess after seeing their brother shot dead. That's not disordered. It's normal and healthy.

PTSD can't even be diagnosed unless life-disrupting symptoms continue for more than 6 months after the traumatic incident. It's when you don't heal over time, and the trauma continues to impact you so much that it compromises your ability to function normally, that it becomes a disorder.

I don't expect this person to understand the nuances of the diagnostic criteria for PTSD, this is just a general rant because I see it a lot. The relentless pathologizing of every normal human emotion is deeply unhealthy and I think we collectively need to cut it out.

It's so bizarre the way that mental health terms are applied in our contemporary clown world.

Any millennial girl who gets sad sometimes has "depression." Everyone from drooling retards to brilliant engineers who just happen to be a little socially awkward is "on the autism spectrum." People who simply wash their hands like civilized human beings are supposed to claim to have "OCD." And, as you point out, anyone who experiences a very normal emotional reaction claims to "have PTSD."

Meanwhile, actual crazy people are just out on the streets, struggling through their disorders by self-medicating and screaming at pigeons.

We're treating sane people like they're crazy and treating insane people like they're normal. I'm sure there will be no negative consequences to this for society as a whole. 🙄

Y'know, when I started visiting The Farms, I never expected that I'd talk about mental health so much here, but damn if it doesn't seem to be the root of a lot of issues we encounter.

“Often”? So more than 50% of these institutions were nothing more than whorehouses? Either way, nowadays we put them onto the streets then into prisons. Guess what? The public still doesn’t care and the sick aren’t getting better.

You can't fix something that is missing pieces that never existed, that's the entire problem that keeps mental health institutions from being viable. You just can't fix crazy. We still have institutions for people who simply can't function or who are deemed to be a danger to others they're just not nationalized anymore I think? I'm not sure how it all works but there are for sure mental hospitals and institutions dedicated to the criminally insane they just don't get spoken of for obvious reasons. No one wants to acknowledge the problem and how big it is.

UPDATE!
There has FINALLY been a minor update to this story. As stated earlier today the shooter has been ID'd as 43 YO Peter Garcia but it was ALSO finally revealed that Mamachu was shot in the head/neck area though the severity was not disclosed but she spoke to police so we can assume it was a graze from the bullet rather than a direct hit. Doubt they'd keep her in the hospital for just a graze unless she's being kept for whatever was causing that nonstop lung hacking.
