We all know that infighting is le bad and users who tend to have opinions that are agreed upon other users are good boys and keep the site safe and positive.

Wowza I got an approval ratio of 16.5.

That's unsurprising for an integrated T&H kiwireddit gold user like myself. Everyone agrees with what I have to say because I have the most acceptable opinions.

What is your approval ratio score? Simply divide your agrees with disagrees to see how much of a good boy or girl you are.

For agree/disagree: 26.44
like/dislike ration is weird though: 246.22

rate this post with dislike to help make my like/dislike ratio more sensible

nobody uses the dislike sticker because it's just the like sticker turned upside down. The disagree sticker is visually distinct
I use disagree specifically for when something is factually wrong or just plain incorrect or based on false assumptions.
Dislike is specifically for when I don't like an opinion or something someone is saying, sometimes I use it for aloggy stuff and other certain things, but definitely I use the disagree rating a lot more because most times I see something I plain dislike I try to ignore it or give it a dumb or autistic rating.

This kind of shit is why the reaction numbers were purposefully made incorrect and this page was entirely disabled for a time
This is dumb. I don't know what caused a lot of people to become anti-sticker but many of the forum point rewards involve sticker ratings and it's a surefire way to tell if someone fits in culturally or not.

The culture of KF changes a lot though so technically it just means someone either has read the room correctly or makes decent or even great quality posts.

I've yet to have seen many situations in which someone posting kwality khantent gets negative stickers for no reason.

I know the user profiles used to give a numeric score to users and maybe it's good that is gone but stickers are IMHO the best way for new users to understand the forum culture - and of course some people deliberately try to get as many negative ratings as possible but it probably makes it way easier for users and mods to identify that that person is either low quality or just being a troll.

It also means I can walk into any thread and not only use the highlight feature but also gauge whether a post about something I know nothing about is good/accurate. The best part about KF for me is that every day I learn a whole bunch of things that I never knew about or never even appreciated before. There are some extremely intelligent and extremely diverse viewpoints here.

Removing sticker ratings is like YouTube removing the dislike counter. It's retarded.

If you need stickers to tell you how to feel about something you're unironically an NPC and you should read about the Asch conformity experiments.

I don't know if you understand what I said so clarify that I am not anti-sticker, but the administrator has stated in previous posts I am pretty sure that he does not want people to view stickers as a tool for dick measuring or engage in negrate wars. So I am merely informing OP that if null has a shit fit and something relating to stickers and ratings is removed or changed it is his fault for attempting to use a feature that was previously disabled for this exact kind of OP in a manner not in line with the administrators intended use of them.

They were only ever useful in the early days and it let me understand the site culture a bit. I don't really care that much about them anymore because I've been given every rating under the sun at this point - sometimes people leave comments on my profile saying nice (or mean) things and that is a hell of a lot more meaningful. I know people like my posts based on comments and disagreements they leave to me. They're extremely useful for navigation though and understanding where active discussion is currently happening.

For community happenings posts they are a good indicator though - because people complain my posts are too long and that I post too much there (https://kiwifarms.st/threads/why-ar...-community-feature-submissions-thread.212267/) so I do use stickers in that specific section of KF to guide myself and strike a balance on how frequently to do updates and also to try and shorten them a bit.

I wouldn't block them because I find them useful for navigation and I'm already an established user who has been around for ages. I don't need ratings to guide what to post or what interests me. But I am at least a little curious about making a sock one day to experience KF anew but don't think I have enough energy or bother to try it out. Shit works as it is right now.

Blocking the reaction bar doesn't block highlight functionality, your own ability to rate posts, or even your ability to see what people rated your posts necessarily, you just don't see what other people rated other people's posts.

I have been using the internet and specifically vbulletin/ipboards forums since before facebook and reddit existed, I have watched the advent of updoots and what they do to people, and it's a poison -- easily the number two driver of echo chambers after algorithmic content curation. It's pure gamification of conformity. You conform to the prevailing culture/ideology, you get points. It absolutely destroys meaningful discussion and turns every argument into one of numbers, a debate gauged not by reason or logic or rhetoric or veracity or virtue or righteousness but by appeal to an inherently biased audience. It rewards lowest common denominator "say the line bart" posts and opinions and incentivizes regression into ideological homogeneity. Which isn't that big of a deal for a designated shitposting retard zoo where I go to say nigger, but on the whole it is probably the fourth or fifth worst thing to ever happen to the Internet.

Anyway if you can't discern whether something is dumb just by reading it you've probably got bigger problems.
