I wonder how/if legally emancipating yourself effects that kinda thang..

You are legally emancipated the day you turn 18 unless you are a ward of the state and to get freed before 18 while in foster care or even with your family is VERY VERY difficult to accomplish. FAFSA independent student status is somewhat different but you generally need to prove your parents aren't in your life, you file taxes independently or you're like in the armed forces or married. Idk how it works with staying on your parents' health care until 26. So Ms. Markhoff has never been emancipated in the legal sense and likely has her parents claim her on taxes and she relies on her parents' health insurance.

Any inheritance or trust fund is subject to the terms of the inheritance or trust, like reaching 25 before getting access to the funds. Executors don't have much leeway, if any, on directed funds and funds coming via an ERISA retirement plan are pretty much iron clad in terms of distribution. So, if you have an ERISA covered retirement plan, double check your listed beneficiaries if you've recently married or divorced or had children.

In short, she's full of shit. And drugs she doesn't need.

Does she not know that retard is a medical term? I thought she was supposed to be all-knowing on that front.
I don't think there's ever been a more appropriate person (Vicky, not you!!) for Doctor Justin Long's diagnosis.

…it says on your chart that you're fucked up. Uh, you talk like a fag, and your shit's all retarded.

I’ve never believed she was legally emancipated from her parents, ever. It’s more Twitter fanfic. No court on earth would emancipate crazy Vicky from her upper middle-class helicopter parents. It’s just Vicky’s dream that some judge declared her parents were the meanies.

Vicky is the opposite of emancipated, at 26 she is totally dependent.

Yeah, she's the opposite of emancipated. She's fully mancipated.
But don't be too harsh.... it's the only kind of "man" she's ever got a chance to be.

She sued her parents for child support (for her, the child) in her 20s, while saying that she was emancipating herself (again, in her 20s). Her parents settled.
Which isn't how emancipation works, that's not how anything works, but all of this information is from Vicky herself so who tf knows what really happened. There's a grain of truth in there somewhere, but good luck finding it.

Her Rx speed fantasy life online is something else. It’s total BS.

Ironically to force her parents to pay college fees she needs to be unemancipated. There’s a whole crazy story (possible a headline Vicky read to invent her tale) in NJ a ten years ago of a teen doing this to her divorced parents, with grandma paying the lawyer to represent her. I say ten years ago but it dragged out for years and the tabloids like to revive it for clickbait every few years.

The only time cases like this have occurred is due to divorces decrees already detailing financial support for schooling. But in this case the fact the teen been declared emancipated would void any claim and she needed a judge to decide she was actually “unemancipated” in order to argue the parents needed to pay part of her tuition.

It was all over the tabloid press for a few years of clickbait. There’s case was dropped because the family “reconciled” but the fact teen had been emancipated was reason she wasn’t going to be able to force her parents to pay for college. It’s debatable if she could have anyway, but it all went back to the parents divorce and how it laid out school fees. Of course, this all just seems like an insane family drama where you had a grandma paying for a lawyer for her granddaughter to sue her father/ her son.

Basically I think Vicky skimmed this story and decided to adopt it. Vicky would have been in the tabloids herself if she had managed this dumbshit in the legal system, but unless I see a GFM for an attorney I’m assuming all her BS about emancipation just boiled down to a family argument and her parents agreeing to pay for college…which is why she has made no progress and will try to stay enrolled at NYU until she is 40.

I’ve actually known a two teens who were legally emancipated and the parent had to be a complete mess for it to happen. In one case the parent along with the process recognizing it was in the teens best interest. When I say disaster I mean parents that couldn’t maintain a stable residence for a month, evictions, drug addictions, arrests, disappearing for days, etc… The kid was usually emancipated because they were working (while attending school) and just needed stability. The disaster parent usually moved in and out of various school districts and it made it difficult for the kid to go to school regularly. The teen usually had found a friend, or stable adult, that helped them in the process and usually offered stable housing. This is usually how emancipation, outside of child actors earning real income, happens.

My theory is that she agreed to keep quiet and not sue them or make an even bigger scene if they would pay for college and her totally necessary healthcare expenses. I would imagine that her parents don’t want to be further humiliated in front of their successful friends.

lol Vicky couldn’t sue them, she can’t afford a lawyer and no shady lawyer would even touch that shit without a big retainer. They probably wanted to avoid another GFM begging.

We all know her power chair GFM but her top surgery GfM in 2018 was a humdinger. This would have been around the same time Vicky was supposed to go college and they wanted her to go to college. (You don’t spend $90k for a prep school for the kid not to go to college)

Her parents probably wanted her to do anything other than pursue more surgeries, Dx, drugs and treatments. I figured they almost had to bribe her to go to college and we can see how well that’s panned out.

And don't forget her 2019 tour of local media in New York:

Markhoff struggles daily to push his PTSD off his chest and get out of bed. His academics, which should be a priority, dull in comparison to the aftermath of his parents physically, mentally and emotionally abusing him for being transgender, he said.

Her extortion racket probably wouldn't work as well in the Trump II era. Mom and dad should try to renegotiate.

I also should have noted that 90% donos for chest surgery getaway to San Fran was basically one dono. Maybe the Mott’s fairy godmother. Either way Vicky has never managed to get much of a crowd to support her, just manipulating her parents and their rich friends around town.

I actually feel a bit bad for her parents. I don’t think they ever bought into her trans BS but knew they were screwed once she was 18. Knowing their daughter is batshit crazy they tried to slow down her butchering her body, but they would have had no support or help from the wider medical community in 2018. Troonsim was the perfect manipulation tool for Vicky in her rich liberal bubble, thanks to the mass hysteria and politics around it. I can’t imagine how intoxicating troon world must have been for BPD girls, it’s like their mental illness was turned into a political movement for a brief shinning moment.

Probably depends on the state and which judge you get, but I know a person who got legally emancipated at 16 as part of a complex scheme to reduce FAFSA EFC. She still goes skiing at dad's place in Colorado and her parents bought her a house in her college town to rent out for income, but somehow they were able to get a judge to approve emancipation in her teens.

Don't underestimate the lengths upper middle class parents will go to to save money on tuition.

Oh, sure for financial loopholes and BS it’s done but that’s just “fake emancipation”. Its a paperwork loophole, not unusual for financial aid EFC reasons.

Vicky acts like she had a grueling fight to be emancipated from transphobe parents which somehow, and very ironically, forced them to pay for her education. It’s 100% fantasy. The parents who paid $30k a year for prep school were always going to pay for college.

But if Vicky claimed she was emancipated so her parents could save money on her college tuition and fees in NYC, or because they didn’t trust her, I’d 100% believe that. I could see her parents thinking Vicky being saddled with some heavy debt at the end of college, if she acted exactly like she is acting now, might be a good stick. But as a carrot, if she got her degree and stopped faking illnesses, they’d wipe out the debt. NYU is expensive af to attend, I think the second most expensive college in the USA. I wouldn’t want to flush $500k down the toilet sending Vicky there. (Btw $497k is the average cost of a four year degree there) Going to Columbia would have saved gobs of money, but Vicky is way too dumb for Columbia.

It would be awesome if $500k in student debt does fall upon Vicky’s bald head when she finally gets booted or drops out.

Holy shit, this chick is so goddamn PRIVILEGED AND SPOILED.

She’s so used to getting her high maintenance lifestyle paid for, that she automatically assumed that she could be in “academia”.

Note how she doesn’t even mention a degree or becoming a professor in whatevs.

She just assumed that she’d get a high five figure salary for basically existing because “academia”.

Professor? Writing articles? Nah… Victoria probably figured she’d be an “accessibility consultant” of some kind, and basically get paid for tweeting and attending the occasional meeting.

I had to look this up, so some universities are removing PhD offers due to uncertainties around funding. Just who do they expect to do all the grunt work and underpaid tutorial/lab supervision? I can't imagine they'll get it cheaper than a PhD student. For subjects where such things are important, I imagine there'd be a huge drop in undergrad enrolment and thus fees.

How are their illustrious professors going to publish their high impact papers that require 1000s of hours of work without people to actually do that work?

Does Orange man understand that China will overtake the US in science and technology, the only guaranteed driver of economic growth (according to something I read once, but maybe I misremember) if you cut it off from the bottom?

Also, I'm pretty sure that if Vicky actually got off her arse, quit munching, and aced her degree, her parents would be willing to fund a PhD for her.

I'd be pretty OK with sociology, disability studies, gender studies, all that crap, no longer having funding for PhDs. They seem to be a net drain on society.

Does Vicky understand that some people in her generation want to study soft matter physics or microbiology, things that produce demonstrable results that drive humanity forward? I highly doubt people in those areas are going to be denied the opportunity to do PhDs and become professors if they are suitably masochistic.
