Because it is easy for them to boil it down as good guys vs bad guys and the fact that the "bad" guys are currently winning is really fucking with their perception of reality and history that the good guys usually win wars.

Because they're afraid of Russia even though Russia won't be much of a threat to the US for many years. Plus they're still mad that Putin killed "muh wholesome democracy" in Russia, even though Neoliberals were fine with Yeltsin self-couping the government back in 1993.

They grew up on the fiction of the Rules-Based World Order where America would simply punish any rogue states that go off the reservation. They grew up at a time where they really thought history was over and free market Neo-Liberalism would inherently triumph across the world because that was the ideology when the Soviet Union fell. They don't particularily care about why or how Russia is doing what they do, because changing the shape of borders by force as a country not named Israel or the USA might as well be the cardinal sin because something something Hitler. Thus, the WW2 mythos is also being awakened because that's the only historical reference point that the educational systems have put in place with these incredibly illiterate people.

More corrupt, but less autocratic by the virtue of there never really being a true center of power that could take charge and being inherently divided. Belarus has Minsk, Russia has St Petersburg and Moscow, the rest of the post-soviet union either focused all of their efforts on the capital or had nationalists who imposed their own identity as the fabric of society. Ukraine didn't really have any of that, because the power was always competed by powerful local oligarchs and the current nationalist angle was only really accepted amongst the western parts of the country because the modern Ukrainian identity traces itself back to the Austria-Hungary and parts owned by them.

They also were mad that local oligarchs moved faster to take control of state assets than the multi-national companies that desired all that oil infrastructure for their own profits. Though, the most brazen example of them interfering with Russian politics was with the 1996 presidential campaign where the opponent represented the Communist Party of Russia and they really pulled all the stops to ensure that Yeltsin won the election by any means necessary. Places like Chechenia had just gone to war with Yeltsin but he still won that region with an end-total that exceeded the maximum population by something like 30 percent.

Pretty much yeah you can argue how autocratic Zelensky regime is but it is not bastion of democracy TM how NAFO and western propaganda claims. But thats geopolitics for ya. If group/regime is useful great powers are going to look other way when they do fucked up stuff and do PR campaign for them to justify support of them to their population.
Remember Syria couple months ago?
"Moderate" Alqaeda and ISIS were going to create inclusive western democracy TM. Or atleast thats what we were promised by western press. And now couple months later telegram is full of videos and pictures of ethnic cleansing and mass graves.

How long does Ukraine have left, let's be honest. I'd say about a few months, especially since the Kursk Offensive is currently being overturned as we speak and that was Ukraine's best men going there.

Its this weird pick and choose to suit your agenda thing when in reality every single former USSR country is dealing with corruption on almost every level of society, some more than others but its usually there in one form or another. Arguably Russia and Ukraine are not even worst off in that department, that honorable title goes to Moldova IMO but nobody gives a fuck about them so that country gets no mentions or too many eyes looking for dirt.
