"The average SNAP (food stamp) benefit per person is estimated to be around $187 per month" according to google.

Just checked the Walmart website. Two pounds of frozen corn/peas/mixed veggies? $2.50. 5-6 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts? $12. A pound of ground beef? $5. 10 pounds of russet potatoes? $5. 18 large white eggs for $7, and a package of bacon for $5. A 3 pound bag of apples for $4. I even set my preferred store to one in NYC, just in case the prices were higher in the city.

There's literally no reason not to restrict food stamps to real food. Not only is it cheaper, but it's healthier, and it supports our nation's farmers.
wait.. theirs Walmarts in NYC? dude I thought it was mostly bodegas and maybe a target or something

All your 'fluff' like candy, soft drinks, and yes, that means spices @The Last Stand comes out of your own pocket. Supplemental is literally in the name SNAP; it's not like you cannot get it if you're earning cash, and you're free to do with that cash whatever you want. And I don't care what you do with your money, but stop spending mine on Mountain Dew.
I also think we need to start promoting having home gardens

Well, I didn't expect this thread to turn out to be a gathering ground for hypochondriac hypothyroidic ASS MUNCHERS.
The food pyramid is honestly just a way to get you to eat more grains; keep in mind that as the "recommended" servings of grains has gone up, so has the rates of obesity.
It's all made up by the bread companies, but I don't care. I'm eatin dat bread.

Apparently, a fatwa has been issued to MAGA shill accounts on behalf of BIG SODA to post in favor of keeping soda in food stamps—for seemingly no reason. Some pretty big accounts are involved (and also Ian Miles Cheong, too), and allegedly, they're paying up to $1,000 per shill

_ an unhealthy America is billions for big pharma (tooth decay...weight gain, thyroid dysfunction, heart disease...renal disease etc)
-regulated food stamps mean less soda sold (soda is addictive sugar aspartame you name it over consumption create my first point)
_ an unhealthy population is a docile population.
You will eat the goy slop and be good money-making piggies.

Obviously, I'm not going to sit here and say that "why, yes, the American tax payer should pay for Tyrone's candy bars and sugar water", but I think we need to have a bigger discussion about what we consider healthy.
This has been an ongoing discussion for years. And, frankly, it's not all that important.
I don't think anyone's arguing the government should be splitting hairs on what is and isn't healthy with regard to SNAP benefits. But "where you draw the line" is hardly important in the face of obvious exclusion criteria.

We already reject food stamps for alcohol. Just add soda to the list and be done with it. If something else is about to get put on the list, we can discuss the merits of that product's exclusion when that time comes.
