I think I loved him playing disco elysium; just because he’s so dumb. It’s like the perfect game to showcase how clueless he can be

A consistent thing I've heard from people who talk to Phil for any length of time is that he is willing to spend a lot of time doing something but he is very very bad at everything he does.

I would say that Phil is a combination of lazy and stupid. After all he did make his own webiste once. But he used the most basic skills and then filled it with his manic Texts (even made a Web Comic but because nobod liked it he rage quit it after TWO episodes). He used to mod his Joysticks but he used the most simplest options. He even edited his videos but he used the most basic skills (and his KOgaming Reviews were just a mishmash of footage and his "Radio voice" layered over it). He tried to make a comedy skit but he used one thing he mastered (the Noooooooooo scream) and never aded anything extra. He is just not willing to go extra miles imho. I would wager he might understand some things he is just too lazy to do it. Well that and his diet / self-imposed isolation has probably ruined a lot of his synapses by now

I got suggested a compilation of streamers reactions to different parts of the game, it's really funny to watch that for a bit and compare how he plays the game. He really only likes the dice rolls, and he thought the racist guy was a little funny. Other than that it's just his normal :-[ face for an hour

Piggybacking (pun intended) on this: has Phil ever attempted Rust? It feels like it would be an instant rage quit for him but popular enough for it to be demanded.

I think it's just Phil finds what works for him and then can't conceive of any other way to solve the problem so he just keeps doing his solution until he's absolutely forced to change. Like how he refused to do direct capture for years because he didn't understand it and just kept on pointing a camera at his TV. Or how to this day he still manually types out the tip amounts and names on his stream instead of setting up a bot like every other streamer to do it.

Phil never gets stuck anywhere, he just reads a guide the entire time or has a fan give him step by step instructions to make the most overpowered build possible.

It's like all of you forget when Phil "played" Minecraft and it was half him fishing and half following autistically specific instructions written by Papavera, like to a block by block level "place four stone blocks in a row, then place three stone blocks diagonally to the left from the end of those blocks, then....etc"

Only time it's fun to watch him rage for a bit are multiplayer or racing games where he can't work around his crap reaction times.

Maybe that would be the case pre-2016 phil before he became an "interactive" streamer and had dents handholding him through an entire game, back when his incompetence at games was actually funny. That's why TIHYDPs of that era are fun to watch (ej: him getting stuck on a baby mode puzzle for 1+ hour and raging or failing to crouch jump in Black Mesa for 30 minutes all the while insulting the devs) while modern ones are lame as shit
