he was trying to warn us, they almost killed wrestling in the 2010sBrian Pillman was right about smarks.

One look at the multiple comments from the IWC in general and you can see why some wrestling fans don't want to admit they like wrestling when you have retards ruining the fun for everyone.he was trying to warn us, they almost killed wrestling in the 2010s
That version of Moxley only works with a full head of hair and youthfulness of a guy in his early twenties who exuded the whole damaged bad boy/rough trade vibe that makes people go "I can fix him" magical penis thinking. Mox is now an obnoxious bear in his large 30s/early 40s who's balding to a degree that he can barely grow any hair on his head, has a gut that is growing by the day, and the dangerous sexual jadedness of "that guy" at the leather bar who the regulars warn newbies about, because he is a firm believer in "no means yes, yes means being whipped with a cat o nine tails for an hour or until he gets bored". But who still is allowed free reign at the bar because he's casual fuck buddies with the leather bar's owner.Bring this Moxley back.
That's always been my issue with people who worship everything Meltzer says and treats as gospel. It's part of the reason why a lot of the Japanese wrestling Meltzer has extolled over the years really doesn't register with me.Wrestling Fans continue to be the worst part about being a Wrestling Fan.
You’d think with how AEW viewership has cratered that the smarks would realize they’re in the minority, what with how the show aimed at them is basically kept on life support by the Khan family itself.
The main roster WWE in-ring stuff is by far the weakest aspect of the product.
Their own developmental has far better matches than the stuff that inexplicably fills football stadiums.
Main roster WWE is Tik-Tok. Fuck all substance but still wildly popular. But hey, i'm probably the fucking idiot for having a issue with that.
I consider myself a casual wrestling fan these days. I don't know why some people can't accept the fact that people just enjoy wrestling for what it is in the past and even today - entertainment, whether it's the promos or actual wrestling. Personally, I prefer both.God forbid WWE know their primarily casual audience wants to be sports entertained and give their audience what they want, huh?
My understanding is, even if someone is a good wrestler, meaning athletic to begin with, it takes until they are in the business for 10-15 years before they can actually work a crowd whether that be through a promo or a match which means most wrestlers will peak in their mid to late thirties which is why main event talent is usually around that age.38 year old vs. 39 year old vs. 46 year old, the oldest guy being one of the worst combatants in UFC history. Am I the only one who thinks this is dimeless?
See the thing about matches is that they're supposed to be a fight, fights are serious and ugly. People who are super invested in the fighting aspect of it will usually just watch UFC. So wrestling promotions have to sell a match before it actually happens, so that people care enough to watch it. Which is why 15-20 minute matches on weekly shows never work. Me personally I don't like watching fights, which is why I have to be super invested in a story or a character to sit through a match otherwise I'll just skip it, I know you guys like the story being told through a match aspect of wrestling but you have to understand you guys are a minority and will only get what you like every once in a while. A company that wants to profit has to appeal to the masses, this isn't arthouse wrestling its commercial wrestling.Me watching modern WWE

That's why I call them workrate marks instead of smarks. They think that wrestling should be nothing more than 60 minute workrate clinics between 2 small flippy guys that involve nothing but flips, kicks, and holds with nothing else, and when this isn't the case with wrestling they throw a hissy fit about it and cry. Even Meltzer nowadays has shown he's more of a workrate mark than a smark due to how much information he gets wrong nowadays due to having no sources. The problem with smarks is that they think they know better than everyone else just because they know some terms and consoom more rasslin shows. The only true "smart" marks are the marks who know it's entertainment and just allow themselves to be sportsentertained.
and thats my biggest problem with them, RAW and SmackDown were so much worse in the 2010s yet they somehow think the show has been bad recently because there isn't a ton of matches there, thats the point, occasionally theres a big match advertised (the Punk vs Rollins steel cage match being a recent example) but the purpose of RAW and SmackDown is to promote the upcoming PPVs, they always have been that way, also theres even less this time of year because they arent going to risk major stars getting injured before Mania, their complaining is absolutely insufferable, the product from 2017-early 2020 is an example as to why they should never be listened towhen this isn't the case with wrestling they throw a hissy fit about it and cry
exactly, WWE is a Show first, the PPVs are usually the end point and thats where the best wrestling occurs, if they want workrate flippy shit theres always AEW or New Japan, its almost like they don't understand why fans came back in droves recently, your average fan doesnt care about intense technical workrate, if you explained that shit theyd think its gayGod forbid WWE know their primarily casual audience wants to be sports entertained and give their audience what they want, huh?
I'd rather watch a WWE style match than an AEW match where it's so obviously two people cooperating in the ring and just doing a gymnastics floor routine. The main roster WWE in-ring stuff is by far the weakest aspect of the product.

I'd love for wrestling to be mainstream again but it ain't happening anytime soon. AE/MNW happened because of the personalities of the guys more so than anything else. Indy guys can't cut promos at all and WWE has them just rehearsing lines these days. AE/MNW was perfect timing because the territories had just gone under a few years before but guys who were in the territories were still wrestling and the territories gave guys the experience and skill to develop character work and promos.I consider myself a casual wrestling fan these days. Wishing for another Attitude Era or Monday Night Wars levels of popularity and wrestling going mainstream again are long gone.
I think WWE had a spike in popularity this decade but yeah it wouldn't be accurate to call it a Boom in the way the late 80s or late 90s were, moreso it was a lot of lapsed fans who were pissed off about the 2010s returning after Vince left, I think interest from that is starting to maybe cool slightly but the people saying WWE is doomed and the WrestleMania build sucks are clearly retarded, this just kinda happens over the years, and for what its worth TKO and HHH have mostly retained fans pretty well thus far I went to RAW last December and it was still a packed arenaI'd love for wrestling to be mainstream again but it ain't happening anytime soon. Vince (and later Endeavor) making WWE more about the brand than the wrestlers made it so such a thing will never happen again. So it'd be nice but it ain't happening.
I mean honestly its entertaining for what it is, I still think Gable should be treated as a bigger deal then he currently is at the moment, he's got those Kurt Angle vibes I could honestly see him as one of the potential guys to beat Cody if they play their cards rightEl Grande Americano is my new favorite wrestler.
