Brianna Wu / John Walker Flynt - "Biggest Victim of Gamergate," Failed Game Developer, Failed Congressional Candidate

So every election cycle Wu is going to surface like some spergy whale to feast upon the disposal income of dumb sjw's?

Let the record show that this will not be a great white whale.

And props to @BlueArmedDevil for an extended metaphor in which SJWs are used as krill by the "spergy whale."

Another great week of hitting the campaign trail HARD! (i.e. erect because John has a penis)

My thoughts? This is a con, plain and simple. Wu's surrounded by people who took the money and ran and faced basically no consequences for it, so she'll cheerfully try to dip from the same wells. Wu earns some coin sperging in her usual environment, Frank gets to laugh at her failures, and makes a bit of take-home pay to pay for Wu's peggle addiction. This is how she stays relevant in a post-GG internet, escalating and trying to appeal to the shrieking NEET Social Justice Warrior crowd.

I'm not sure it's 100% a con, but Frank's percentage in this might well be. You still need the candidate, and Brianna seems sincere, though not trustworthy. Going by track record though, I don't think it would take much encouragement for her to genuinely believe she's genuinely picking up the torch of progressivism. She is at least a "true believer" in those politics (at least as far as they advance her) from what I can tell, and that life of privilege / known social ineptitude might well lead her to think her natural station is giving orders from (some demented conception of) Congress, having been swept into power by thousands of supporters.

The issue I have with the "cash grab" theory is with the campaign finance laws- as I understand, those are pretty strict in the US, and fairly rigorously enforced. Now, Frank is a guy with relevant skills and connections, maybe he's seen a trick? A popular scam in many places is to pay family a salary as staff members, but that's of course pretty transparent. From what I've read, you're good till $5k, but it seems like they are shooting for more.

Ha ha, great work, John! A female starship "captian" was undoubtedly the pinnacle achievement of Western civilisation!

Meanwhile, glue-sniffing idiot @RepStephenLynch wastes his fucking time grabbing his cock and honouring local firefighters in his district for their courageous services rendered to the local community. Holy fucking shit what a goddamn waste of time, can you imagine how many Chinchous he could have caught instead of wasting time with these useless WHITE MALE IDIOTS?

It's certainly a scam, but Frank is the victim not the perpetrator. The whole purpose of this politician make-believe is to make it seem like Brianna is busy and productive so Frank can't bug her about getting a job. Deep down, Brianna is fucking terrified of having to find actual paying work. After all, she's 40 years old and has no work experience, plus a history of pathological lies about her skill and work history. Any HR department that is even half awake would tear her a new one.

The money for toys is just a bonus, politician Wu delivers the main benefit of being able to sit around the house all day and have an excuse not even to do any cleaning. She'd also love to have money to pay underlings to make her look important, but just lying about her supposed campaign staff on twitter is a fine second prize.

They are but they're not perfect. Hillary Clinton was "exploring the possibility of a run" for like a year when everyone knew she was going to run because she could skirt campaign finance laws that way and raise more money before "officially declaring".

I would say the FEC doesn't really care because a)their budget and authority has been stripped in the past couple of decades and really can't do much of importance except prosecuting the most obvious undeniable cases of campaign fraud and b)Wu probably isn't even on their radar, it's just someone tweeting shit about a run in 2 years. Could a case be made against Wu if someone had the time and money to really pursue one? Probably. Will the FEC seek one out? Probably not unless her campaign blows up and gets a lot more national attention at some point (moon rocks is a good start but it's not gonna get the FEC involved).

Here's a collection of Wu's "as an engineer, I believe...." type horse-shit. My personal fave is "I'm a politician/engineer".

I've never encountered anyone so tragically consumed with trying to convince the world of their worth.

The real world isn't math. Just because there's a solution doesn't mean it's a good one.

Which makes me wonder why he choose that district to run in.
He probably would have loved to run in the 5th District, but Katherine Clark (D) is already representing that district, so Wu can't run against a fellow progressive white (cis)female moonbat without falling foul of the SJW twittersphere they both cohabit. Besides, I think Wu owes Clark a few favors, after Clark tried to sic the FBI on Gamergate at the behest of Wu and a few others.

I wonder if Katherine Clark is providing any resources to John but there's no way she wants to attach her boat to the Titanic.

I don't think it's legal for Clark to do any more than give the maximum personal donation to Wu's campaign and publicly speak for her, just like any other citizen.

I would doubt the former and I haven't seen any of the latter.

Edit: Oh, unless you mean political contacts in which case absolutely not, those are like gold and the most Clark would ever give Wu is, like, access to one of her low-to-mid level political operatives at best as a favor, and even that much I heavily doubt.

I'd imagine she pulled the congressional version of quietly routing a disappointing date's calls directly to voicemail on anyone associated with Crash Override Network sometime between immediately after the leaks and shortly after that investigation she, essentially, ordered fizzled out with no convictions.

That's not to say that Wu does not have a bit of leverage against both, however. Katherine Clark seems to have played some role in Crash Override, I don't know how much but she did at least promote it before noping the fuck out of there:

That would normally be forgettable if not for the fact that Crash Override Network also introduced Brianna Wu with Chloe Sagal, who would go on to send the only credible death threats to Brianna Wu during the GamerGate saga and as of this post. That is the anti-cyberharassment equivalent of a faith healer swearing to cure a man's cold with his touch and giving him leprosy in the process.

Given her consistent history of strikeouts, I don't think Brianna Wu is the proper balance of clever and stupid to parlay this malpractice, if it can be called that, into an attempt at strongarming favors or endorsements out of Clark. It is worth noting, however, that Clark has not mentioned the CON gang or anti-GamerGate since the leaks and she would probably be content to keep it that way. Given Randi's continued and foolish attacks against Wu - Brianna's is an idiot and deserving of mirth, but when you essentially introduced Brianna to a batshit crazy stalker through your anti-harassment project you might want to shut your fucking mouth - it would not be entirely unexpected for this nuclear option to be pulled. If it did, Clark might have to answer for a few of the skeletons in her closet whether she likes it or not.

I blew some time and scoured the local political tweets and shit, cause fuck you I'm bored, and haven't found a single tweet from any political figure on either side of the spectrum about Flynn

Im guess he'll never see a single drop of support from any serious politician; Johnny's just so fucking toxic to be involved in that even a SJW sperg like Clark won't risk endorsing him.

Not that I'd expect a party democrat like Clark to ever risk going against the grain and supporting someone outside the party like Johnny-boy over a fellow registered incumbent like Lynch.
