The brief stresses that Meta’s alleged use of pirated books as training data can be considered fair use. The source of the training data is not determinative, as long as it’s used to create a new and transformative product, they argue.
“The case law, including binding circuit precedent, holds that internal copying, made in the course of creating new knowledge, is a transformative use that is heavily favored by fair use doctrine,” the professors write.
You don't know that. An AI artist might have years of traditional art training and the whole reason they get to be a paid AI artist is the culmination of all their skills, allowing them to turn out high quality work quickly. Maybe they CAN draw just fine. And who knows, maybe the digital artist gets endlessly frustrated without access to layers or undo, they've become so reliant on conveniences that they have a hard time with traditional art.It is an own. You take away a digital artist's computer, and he'll able to draw even when all he has is sticks and stones. You take away an AI artist's computer, what will he do? Ask an artist he knows to draw "renaissance painting of a woman with big breasts, high resolution, Artstation featured"?
And besides that, why should there even be a distinction between these mediums or AI? Every medium or form of art is really a medium from which to portray an idea. Conceptually there shouldn't be much of a difference between paint and canvas, a tablet and a computer, soot and a rock, or an AI. They are all just mediums of getting ideas across. Creating some kind of autistic distinction or barrier of entry for 'art' is pedantic and faggoty.they've become so reliant on conveniences that they have a hard time with traditional art.
The excuse is that they worked for years to earn their craft. I don't know if musicians use the same excuse? Would be certainly interesting to know if they do such. And besides that, why should there even be a distinction between these mediums or AI? Everything is faster now. That's technology. Technology enables you to solve current problems faster and in greater quantity so you can move onto find new problems to solve faster. Sure, 300 years ago life was pretty hard, but if you put someone from then in this day and age they would be utterly overwhelmed. Life was hard, but it was also simple and slow. Nowadays, life is very complicated, with the average person nonchalantly completing tasks for day to day work and life that would take entire days back then. AI is literally just this. It's automated art- Automated problem solving in general. And this is the exact argument people were using some 20 years ago to malign digital art. It's tiring to see people caught up in the same circles over and over and fucking over again. But I guess the sky is always falling. The excuse is that they worked for years to earn their craft
Eww, fire? That’s cheating. Never was a fan of the whole “fire” thing. Just moving a bit too fast, you know? Without proper alignment and some time to work the kinks out fire is going to burn the world to ashes.
I don't think anyone should take seriously anything this guy says. Not sure if this was posted before, but I can't get over the absurdity of this clip, which seems to be taken from one of Northernlion's videos/streams, where he starts going on a tangent about AI art.

Making fun of people for jerking off to weird shit is a staple on the internet, particularly here on the farms, but this guy is so absurdly stuck up and pretentious about it, that I just can't take him seriously. He seems to unironically think that fapping to AI art is some sort of crime against the human race.
Not only that, but by the end he starts shilling for people to pay for art commissions instead and brings a totally groundbreaking argument as for why people should pay 50-100 dollars for a single piece of artwork by stating "THAT'S THE PRICE YOU PAY, OKAY?", as if it's some sort of noble sacrifice.
Who honestly cares this much on whether or not somebody jerks off to AI art or not?
This guy looks like a ballsack, and all his shits retarded. He also looks like a buck broken cuck, no joke. Not sure if this was posted before, but I can't get over the absurdity of this clip, which seems to be taken from one of Northernlion's videos/streams, where he starts going on a tangent about AI art.

Dude, i can draw furry porn too, you are not special. Literally, i can grab a sheet of paper right now, grab a pencil and draw furry porn. It'll take me like a hour or two, and maybe a few attempts, but i can do it. A fucking caveman can

Hello? Based department?
AI is made by humans but is not itself human, so it's bad. Got it. But art of any kind is made by humans but is not itself human, so it's also bad. This argument is fundamentally retarded but is still one of the most intelligent anti-AI points I've ever heard in my life. Next! Not sure if this was posted before, but I can't get over the absurdity of this clip, which seems to be taken from one of Northernlion's videos/streams, where he starts going on a tangent about AI art.
Art is abstract. Art is meant to invoke a relatable feeling of humanity between two people through a piece of creation. The excuse is that they worked for years to earn their craft. I don't know if musicians use the same excuse? Would be certainly interesting to know if they do such.
Writers perhaps do.
