That’s pretty much the case with anyone who goes into a thread and tries to act like an expert on the topic. That’s why I personally never go into any lolcow threads. I would look like an idiot.

To me you seem to be implying that it's true, similarly when any drama pops up and suddenly there's plenty of "Well, I heard this guy does this and that... I don't know if it's true, but that's what I heard". The rest of people seem to have had the same impression since they just assumed it to be true. You are right. I notice many lolcow threads are full of gunt guarding. Even if the objective is to laugh, then you see people get super defensive all of a sudden if you make fun in the wrong way. I didn't realize that was possible but I think it is just another form of parasocial.
