Well yes. But the thing is, this is strapping the nation onto the back of the tiger, and when you ride the tiger, you can't plan where you're going or where you'll end up. You just have to hold on. And I don't think people, including Trump, realize that this is some really historically unprecedented tiger-riding rather than an "all in" negotiation strategy.
At this point I would rather have Trump cause the destruction of this fake, gay, kosher controlled puppet nation than have to continue with the farce any longer.

But what's the alternative, just ride out the slow decay? If you wait for the right time to act, you never act, because there will always be unforeseen problems that make it the wrong time, and pain is a necessary part of reform that only gets worse the more you try to delay or avoid it

Trump has been talking about this shit for over a decade. I came across this video trying to track down the first time he started talking about tariffs, but it was absolute potato quality, and the sound was fucked, I upscaled, made it work on modern monitors and fixed it as best I could.
He cusses like a sailor in it, and after his 8 or so minute Obama rant which actually has a purpose, it's a side of trump most people have never seen.
I HIGHLY recommend this one.
Its a 2GB 34 Minute video so I guess we are going with Youtube, sorry. It was in such bad shape that I didn't risk compressing it further.
choice quote: 'You motherfuckers are going to pay a 25% tax'

I wouldn't be thrilled about all of this if I was retired because it would certainly hurt my bottom line, but why are people who aren't going to retire in the next year even that worried.
Worst case scenario, none of this works out, we stagnate for 4 years, a globohomo gets elected and reverses the decision overnight and we go back to the market riding on hopes and dreams to the detriment of the average us citizen watching the fed go brrrrr and make the dollar worth a penny.
Likely scenario, this doesn't work out as well as imagined and over the next year many things get rolled back to ease tension. Good point is we need the stagnation anyway, we were headed for hyper inflation death.
Scooby-doo ending: one by one countries come to the table to negotiate a deal, Trump gets what he wants out of them, whether that's a change in the way they deal with American products (many countries simply block American products like Canada, to keep their own production strong) and we see a happy better ending at the end of a year or so. UK has already said it's looking to make a deal, so this is a possibility that's about equal to the likely scenario ending.
There is also the total American death scenario which is possible but highly doubtful. This goes on for 4 years, Vance gets in because trannies will still be unapproachable in 2028, and we just ride off into the sunset.

My personal opinion, the last 4 years have been bullshit inflationary politics, the fed has printed money straight into the pockets of Wallstreet so I could give a fuck if we lose the last 4 years of gains. It will suck, but thats life.

Sorry if already mentioned, but can somebody explain to me why shitlibs keep repeating the slogan "The world will unite against America." My own father was repeating this shit for no reason and the only logic I personally see is this SoyMarvel logic, where the good guys team up against EVIL-AmeriKKKa.
Retaliate against America with what, trucks of peace?
The Lotus Eaters covered this but I admittedly only barely understand it. It's a fundamentally different view of the world. "Great Men Theory" vs "Rules." (I think this refers to a Marxist theory called Historical materialism, which would make sense.)

American is breaking the rules. The rules state that America is the piggy bank of Europe, an economic zone that is meant to subsidize their socialist bullshit. A bunch of hectoring karens and the like filled out all the paperwork and agreed, this is how things are and should be and that's it, if you don't like arranging your economy as a life support system for Europe and brown people welp sorry, them's the rules. We're not supposed to aspire to anything greater than slowly dying while eurocrats suck our economy dry until they can enact fully automated gay space communism, and then we can all fuck off and die because we'll have been ethnically cleansed by then.

Contrast this with Great Men Theory. Rules? If the rules got us here, of what use are the rules? In this theory, Trump is a "great man," basically an independent actor who is ignoring the "rules" in lieu of what he wants to do for himself and his country. He acts, and the world reacts. The Tariffs are supposedly one good example of this. The rules state that Europe can fuck us over with Tariffs and we can politely nod smile and apologize for not being as awesome as a bunch of slovenly cunts currently arresting their people for protesting the latest random sandnigger muslin killing or raping or raping dead children. But fuck those rules, enjoy our own tariffs designed to fuck your economy until you capitulate.

I don't know if it's right, and I'm almost certainly fucking the concept up in my retelling of it. But it certainly would explain just why they're sputtering in incoherent rage about him. He's breaking the rules, don't you know?!

The reason tariffs have to be handled this way other than the time crunch of midterms is that for the entirety of the Biden administration we were either teetering or drowning in a recession. The media and government kept moving goalposts and redefining terms in order to tell us we weren't, but we definitely were and if something isn't done we will absolutely be in a depression, probably a global one.

Current society in the west is far removed from the adage "short term pain for long term gain". We've been conditioned to only accept immediate, satisfying results. Some will have to do more belt tightening than others and that isn't fair especially if the belt is already tight. But the belt will end up strangling us if we don't fix our economy now.

Honestly it doesn't sound like you understand why people would oppose it. It's not ignoring the stuff Iran does vs seeing that we and our allies do the exact same thing as them. I'm not sure why we need more of the same status quo against Iran because they also have national interests.
The US doesn't fund terrorist groups that kill Iranians. When we kill Iranians, we do it ourselves. You are a crazy person to say the US does the exact same stuff as Iran.

All these pearl clutchers didn't give a shit when Biden devalued the currency by over 50%, yet a 3.6% decline in the S&P is somehow the end of the world?

So much of the wailing and gnashing of teeth is protecting the status quo. Status quoism, these people want to prevent change and protect the system as is at any cost. There's this great analysis of the Harry Potter books about how it's so indicative of the worldview of neoliberals who don't believe in anything except protecting the status quo. So much of that series is about how there's so many issues and wizarding society but the principal concern of the heroic characters is just protecting the status quo at any cost, Voldemort is primarily bad because he wants to change things without following procedures and rules.

"Rules" is a good way to put it too.

Yeah but orange man bad.

I was grocery shopping today and overheard some journo cunt on the news the store was playing over the PA whining about it would take two to five years to finish constructing new factories in America in response to tariffs.
They're not even arguing that tariffs don't work anymore, They're just bitching that since we don't have the ability to instantly onshore everything that's gone through decades of offshoring that we shouldn't even begin the process and just continue to let our economy go down the shitter.

Yeah. We fund everything else under the sun BUT not direct terrorism on Iran! So that makes it okay.
You are a crazy person to say the US does the exact same stuff as Iran.
Bro, are you really trying to say all the color revolutions, state funded propaganda, and extra judicial killings of anyone (even US citizens), etc. doesn't put us on par with what Iran does??? What is wrong in that brain of yours? Did you not learn from USAID? We do the exact same thing indirectly. We're worse for that.

In other words, the British want to put the colonies in line again

The Bongistani news reporting about this whole tariff business is unhinged, as are the vast majority of the commenters. "Orange Hitler is ruining the world! He's no ally! What about us?! He's ruining global trade!". Nobody seems able to grasp the idea that Donald is the president because Americans voted for him to at least try and improve the lives of Americans.

There's such a disconnect it's insane. In the UK news right now, one of the last steel plants remaining (which is mostly owned by Chinese anyway) is being closed down due to it being unprofitable. Why is this? Yes, Western labour is expensive as are health and safety requirements, but maybe if the Chinese steel wasn't so cheap and there was some sort of encouragement to buy UK steel the plant wouldn't be closing. Now that's a ton of skilled workers out of a job, skills that will be lost forever.

That's only one industry. What if, instead of having a country where a huge part of the economy hinges on services and other bullshit, restored all industry to within their own borders? Higher skilled workers with more job satisfaction, insulation from others holding you to ransom like Russia with gas and China with rare elements, and perhaps higher exports if it's higher quality than the chink shit we tolerate now.

I am incredibly jealous I live in a near totalitarian state, run by a complete faggot with no chance of anyone with a spine being elected due to our voting system, while the US is undergoing its resurrection. Fucking sucks.

What I'm getting from this thread today is that people who play the stock market are fundamentally deeply, deeply retarded on a form of nigger cattle welfare and would rather see the rest of us permanently trapped in pod dwelling, bug eating slavery than have line on graph go down for any reason because they're terrified they might actually have to work for a living. Get a real job you do nothing bums.
yes
The vast majority of investments are retarded scams that work because the government wants them to. And with the money printer, they will never fail.

nothing about the modern economic system makes any goddamn sense
we pretend do nothing jobs that inflate GDP are real expensive work and reward wasting time over actual productivity

we live in a world held together by duct tape, drugs, and delusion

Every single Anglo sphere is like this. A totalitarian shit hole with no prospect of ever reclaiming it's past glory and standard of living. Pure sore loser mentality. The list goes on.

Outsourcing and importing is the status quo which is inherently Good. Trying to change things, especially without following the Rules (which will prevent any change) is inherently Bad. You MUST follow Rules, even when Rules are made in such a way that any kind of change is impossible.

No one learned a goddamn thing from COVID where the only people who had to work were the ones with the actual important jobs who make society function, meanwhile all the roasties and trust fund kids with their fake laptop pool jobs got to sit on their asses in their pajamas at home for months and get paid to do nothing.

You can leave, brother. There's an American in you screaming like a bald eagle to fly free. There are many ways to legally immigrate to the US.
