[EDIT] Clarification: See replies below, the post I replied to are two pictures, one from a 2024 sale and the picture of them posing from 2022 when they bought it.

Different pictures that are years apart, the photo of him with his wife and iPad baby is from a 2022 twitter post, showing that he bought his house. The listing on the real estate website Domain is on 4.4.2024.

So the picture of them posing is from them buying in in 2022, and the picture above shows a recent sale in 2024, meaning they sold the house.

Looking back at the videos, I think people got the idea it was exclusively about cheating accusations become 99% of his one million Billy videos are about that. He talked endlessly about the Twin Galaxies lawsuit, but almost never about his own. I think it was that video about Billy faffing at a gaming convention that he mentioned Apollo again, and when I realized Apollo was related to the lawsuit.

That people either forgot or didn't know about his Apollo statement until now ironically would have helped the lawsuit. I don't think he lied or was malicious, but wanted to keep his cards close. "This lawsuit is about me saying Billy killed Apollo" would probably piss off Billy, saying he's rebroadcasting the claims, and might hurt his case. That might be different because he asked for donations, not sure.

Regardless, Karl/his lawyers fucked up the lawsuit, but this wave of hate from people towards him, bringing up unrelated stuff from years ago, I think is silly.

I have been wondering the same thing.

Karl must have known that this case was about something materially different than what every other lawsuit Billy ever filed against anyone else.
That is why I was so shocked by the result, until I read the judgement and the reasoning behind it I was completely in the dark that the case was exclusively about the Apollo Legend accusation and that Karl had no source for his claims. Completely flabbergasted he would take this to trial.

And Karl talked about being sued or threatened with lawsuits by Billy multiple times.
At the time this particular defamation suit was filed it was the third pending case against him brought by Billy.
Karl forgot to tell anyone that Billy dropped the first two that were about cheating allegations.

They're so out of touch with reality that at this point everything has essentially flipped:

cheat in a videogame = pure evil
driving someone to suicide = just a trivial small thing

'why would he even care that I falsely claimed that he directly caused a suicide, his reputation has already been destroyed by moistcritical dunking on him about donkey kong. ApolloLegends death is meaningless in comparison to that' - the mind of a speedrunner.

karl made it seem like he was 100% in the right, his case was a slam dunk, billy had no chance and that justice was on his side. turns out that was not true at all. understandably thats how karl wanted to present his case to the judge because thats how you win in court, the issue is that karl presented it the same way to his fans while asking them for money so he could defend himself in court and find justice against a scorned litigious known cheater. so now people are rightfully asking the question, is he only massively retarded or did he try to defraud his audience to fund his massive retardation too?

there has never been any admission from karl that he is not in fact being sued over the cheating allegations, not even a real hint. with every video he made about billy showing more proof that he cheated sandwiched inbetween the legal updates it was reasonable to assume that the information in these videos would be beneficial to his case. turns out it was all completely irrelevant. its just scummy.

The judge's quote about Jobst wanting to slay the Mitchell dragon is completely on point. You see, Karl really wanted to be the one to put Billy in his place. He would have gotten a judge to say that he CHEATED IN DONKEY KONG. That would sure show Billy!

Well, now he's a million dollars in the hole after spending half a decade on this shit. Yeah, Billy's an asshole, but who truly gives a fuck about the sanctity of the Donkey Kong leaderboard THAT much? The risk was way more than the reward. There's a reason most people settle. It's not worth it. Billy even let Apollo off relatively scott free. He just had to take down his videos and never talk about him again. It's a small price to pay versus Karl effectively ruining his entire life.

This reminds me of Twin Galaxies' lawyer getting emotionally involved in wanting to destroy Billy too. So, he started harassing Billy's witnesses and killed a slam dunk case. Maybe Mitchell Derangement Syndrome is an actual thing.

If only the case had been about that. At least he could have made a solid case to defend that assertion, by using plenty of documented evidence and discussions about the technical side of Arcade vs. Emulation.

For this case he had literally "but Billy is a bad person, so my lies about him did not actually harm him".
Which is a retarded defense for a 5000$ case and utter hubris in a 500000$ case.
