Canada is a failed state

What I don’t get is why Galen Weston has a mansion in Brampton? Why would you want to be around all those Jeets? I know the loblaws HQ is in Brampton

Indians are popular amongst wealthy circles because they think India is the economic future.

If you look at it purely in terms of GDP growth it may appear that way, but India has such massive social, political, and environmental issues that it's a heaping dump no matter how much GDP growth it has.

For example, something as basic as sanitation, clean water, and hygiene, India is horrific. Vietnam in comparison is five time more sanitary than India.

I like to look at which developing nations I can see being developed in the near future, and India is not one of them, but Vietnam I can totally see it being developed in the near future (it is less specialized than India, but it's socially, politically, and environmentally much more sound, and economic growth is strong).

This is why I don't entirely trust or rely on economists or corporates to run the country (like Carney), there are qualitative aspects that affect a country's development, culture being one of the more fundamental and vital pillars, and like not being a garbage dump.

Like I don't get how India having massive issues with public defecation and we have corporates like Elon Musk wanting to bring more Indians. Eugh. You can see it just in Canadian suburbs, the Indian neighborhoods are totally unkept, and you want to bring more of that? Forget about GDP growth!

Nine times out of ten the nice and manicured neighborhoods are White. Those are qualitative aspects of life that economists and corporates cannot and will not measure.

While you've probably not been paying much attention to the NDP given it's cratering poll numbers, Pajeet singh is campaigning with a muslim prostitute from the Vancouver area.

Clearly he didn't learn from Kamala putting black strippers on stage in front of white boomers
That's the least gayest shit jagshit did in his career.

Anyway, I think carney and trump already got a deal planned out. US will take the parts industry. Canada will keep the assembly.

Now, for other aspect of the relationship, who knows.

True but a lot of Canadian young have a bad spending habits. It’s true that everything is inflated badly however I still see these kids maxing out credit cards on the latest fashion and going out to bars every week. I enjoy a fruity cocktail but self control is important and financial literacy is not taught in Canada. I don’t know I done school a while ago but I highly doubt it’s taught at all.
That maybe true just when young people feel like the bigger purchases in life are out of reach they become Nigger Rich spending on the smaller things in life.

Housing prices are so fucked, so you'll see people spending money on expensive cars instead while living with their parents or buying a nice bottle a scotch every so often / ordering takeout. International trips
I HATE THIS COUNTRY WITH SO MUCH PASSION.

Bernier was on the PBD podcast lately. All of the Canadian election promos seem to be running through American channels.
I hope Joe Rogan shoves that gay nerd into a locker.

I learned that Canadian boomers are the biggest supporters of LPC in the election today. All because the media told them Orange Man Bad and the trade war nonsense. I thought American boomers were bad but god damn, yours are speedrunning selling out Canada and dicking over Millenials and zoomers. All it took was 10 years of Trudeau.

Gotta say I've got some deeply ambivalent feelings about Trump in general, but the trolling of Canadians has resulted in reactions so viciously defensive and salty that I have to give him two thumbs way up.

The Canadian is immunized against all dangers: One may call him a simp, a libtard, or a frenchlover; it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But call him a 51st stater pretending as a real nationality and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: "I’ve been found out".

New provincial photo radar restrictions take effect in Alberta

Alberta’s overhaul to photo radar enforcement has officially taken effect, as Calgary’s police service prepares to apply for exemptions to problem intersections.

New regulations that took effect Tuesday prohibit photo radar on numbered provincial highways, and limit its use to school, playground and construction zones.

The “speed on green” function for intersection safety devices is also now prohibited to just red light enforcement.

The new rules reduce the number of sites where photo radar could be used by about 70 per cent — from 2,200 sites to just 650 across the province.

“This is something that has been a long time coming,” Transportation Minister Devin Dreeshen told Global News.

“Albertans have wanted to know that the use of photo radar in the province was used for traffic safety and not for revenue generation for municipalities.”

However, red light cameras will still be allowed in areas with a higher frequency rate for collisions, injury and fatal collisions, relative to similar areas or intersections over a three-year period.

The regulations show red light cameras will also be allowed in areas that have had at least five collisions resulting in injuries or fatalities, or at least 15 property damage, injury or fatal collisions in the last three years.“

“Albertans should have confidence knowing that photo radar used in school, construction and playground zones or in areas where there’s high collisions, that we all have a part to play to try to make sure that our roads are as safe as possible,” Dreeshen said. ”

Municipalities request the province for an exemption to the photo radar restriction in high collision locations.

According to the province, applications for an exemption must include details of high-collision frequency and severity relative to similar locations, as well as details on “how other safety measures are not possible or will be ineffective.”

The exempted sites must also be required to undergo an audit every two years to assess the effectiveness of the enforcement.

“We know from the data that the automated traffic enforcement and the intersection safety devices, placed where they were in the city, was having a very positive effect,” said Calgary police chief Mark Neufeld.

“The result of that was less collisions, less severity of collisions, and less fatal collisions.”

Neufeld said the service’s enforcement is already in compliance with the new regulations, and police will monitor high collision intersections before applying for exemptions.

“It’s very difficult in some of those locations to do conventional enforcement with officers,” Neufeld said.

“A couple of weeks ago, one of our officers stopped a vehicle on Stoney Trail and ended up being struck from behind by an impaired driver.”

The province is instead encouraging municipalities to use traffic-calming measures with the creation of a fund to help upgrade roads and intersections “that pose demonstrated safety risks.”

The Traffic Safety Fund is set at $13 million over the next three years for the 25 municipalities that used photo radar devices.

“It’s not even a drop in the bucket. The drop evaporates before it hits the bucket, it’s nothing,” said Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek.

According to council documents, the City of Calgary spends an average of $3 million per year on traffic calming through its Safety Improvements budget.

However, the city found unfunded traffic calming projects around schools is between $48 million and $97 million, with unbudgeted traffic calming projects citywide estimated to cost between $400 million and $600 million.

Dreeshen said the funding is meant for “engineering” on those roadways.

The Calgary Police Service said the new regulations have contributed to a $28-million shortfall in its budget moving forward.

City council voted to fill that gap with reserve funds for 2025, but Gondek said conversations are ongoing to determine how to make up the shortfall in the years to come.

A little more information about this verdict, as well as Pat King's, who's case already completed with similar charges:
  • Lich, Barber, and King were charged with 6, 7, and 6 charges respectively, primarily mischief. The crown wanted them all locked in jail for 25+ years because of the convoy.
  • In a stroke of luck, the judges that all three of the protesters got were very level headed and willing to look at the facts of the matter. The way the cases were regarded were similar in all 3 cases.
  • The crown spent most of their time trying to fool the judges into believing false information based on their own narrative, in the face of overwhelming video evidence as a result of the livestreams during the event, to the point Pat King's judge almost outright told the crown to fuck off at the end of his case due to his anger at being lied to not just in the case, but about the event in general. This most likely made their cases more sympathetic based on the language of the judges as their cases moved forward.
  • The judges also used the aforementioned livestreams as undoubted proof of three things:
    • The 3 protestors knew what they were doing and what they wanted, and never stated otherwise.
    • Despite a delay, they adhered to all requests delivered from official sources without issue (except for one, which is relevant to Barber).
    • There was no violence committed or indirectly caused by anyone associated with the Convoy.
  • The judge believes that the protestors have honest intentions of wanting to be heard without police confrontation.
  • He also directly blamed Ottawa for the location of the protest, not the protesters, since Ottawa allowed them entry.
  • At the end, The only charges they obtained were the mischief charge, and in the case of Barber, an additional Disobeying Court Order charge. This is entirely due to the protesters completely owning their roles in the protest and their actions, and not a matter of opinion on the judges' parts.
  • Pat King was sentenced to 120 days in jail with time served, and walked out of the court a free man as a result. This sentence is well below the maximum sentence of 1 year for mischief, and indicates the judge was sympathetic to his case (he would have walked free due to time served regardless). This sets the precendent for Lich and Barber to hopefully receive similar sentences, with the same result. DISREGARD THIS I'M A FUCKING RETARD Pat King got time served (1 year) plus 3 months conditional sentencing. This sets the precedent for the others to get a similar verdict, which they will have also have time served for up to a year assuming that is what they are sentenced to.
TL:biggrin:R: The government tried to make an example of these people and got largely told off by the judges when the facts of the matter were revealed. I firmly believe based on the language of the judge that they would declare them all innocent if they didn't have their hands tied from both the evidence and confessions. Convoy haters declared legally retarded and/or malicious. CONVOYGODS WON.

Not sure where you heard that since, according to Pat King's own words, he's been sentenced to one year in jail.

I heard it from an account tweeting it live from the court the day of his sentencing. I stopped following his case after that, so this is new to me. That's ridiculous that it was increased after the fact, but the time served still stands at the very least because if it didn't he'd still be in jail.

Edit: Found the reporter who I was following on YouTube, I misremembered. The 1 year is the time served, in addition to 3 months conditional sentence. I mashed them together like a retard. Editing the original post now.
