HL2 is pretty interesting as a case study for aging games, it's still very fun to play but there's been some design progress, I get what they were going for with the "playable" cutscenes but that's almost universally been rejected with the exception of movie games like TloU. When people usually say a game has aged, it's because it's not fun to today's standards but it was good for its era, meanwhile HL is still very fun despite some of the quirks of the era.
