And each country also has it's own Parliament with hundreds of people and like 5-15 political parties, whom the EU parliament members represent. Anyway, these things are just being proposed now and unlike in the US, will take a while to get decided upon and put into action, due to insane amounts of bureaucracy and corruption and mental illness involved (refer to sentences 2 and 3).
