I'm not going to pay off some kid's college debt because they went to some liberal arts school and borrowed a few million to learn gender science and underwater basket weaving. Yes if you took out giant loans with no plan on how you were going to pay it back then you're on your own.

Stealing everyone's money to pay for other peoples' debt is also just a really dumb idea because it doesn't even acknowledge the issue. Why is school so expensive that it requires a loan? How is it that education, despite being so expensive, is not creating wealth? Even if we could forgive everyone's debt, and everyone was ok with it we still have a broken system that will require us to bail out next year's students over and over again. I want people to take care of themselves and not ask me for hand outs. I can barely afford to take care of myself let alone boomers, gen z students, and single mothers. You're asking me to give up what little I have and aren't offering me anything in return. How about you make education affordable in the first place so I can switch careers? Drop housing prices so I can own a home. If you want something out of me and the rest of americans you need to offer something that's mutually beneficial and also isn't done at gunpoint.
I got my undergraduate in political science by taking out loans. After thinking about it for some time I actually agree with you after initially being inclined to disagree for obvious reasons.

I believe this because their leadership believes they are the literal embodiment of heaven. I
If anything it is the people and ruler class of the US that have swallowed the pill of American exceptionalism and genuinely believe reality itself will bend to their whims, meanwhile Chinese leadership is more pragmatic, imperial examinations outlived the cultural revolution.
Giving them the opportunity to present themselves to their people as the bulwark standing against Western aggression and subversion is exactly what they want and will bolster support for the Party even more, Chinese society has collective trauma over being abused by Western powers and haven't forgotten.

I'm sure the net food importer will play fuck fuck games with one of the largest food exporting nations in the world.
Imagine shilling for the chicoms and doing it for free.
You're pretending they don't have options, like just buy from someone else while your corn and soybean stocks rot. They'd resort to rationing if it meant not bending the knee for the US. Totalitarian dictatorships have the advantage of not giving a fuck.

I'm not worried for me. I am worried for you. I suspect a lot of people saying this is a terrible idea are in the same boat as I am.

The consequences for the rest of the world are some short term inflation and instability with the inconvenience of negotiating new agreements with other trading blocks and getting used to the new paperwork and bullshit that goes along with that.

The consequences for you guys are massive inflation and long unemployment lines. Every country that has ever economically isolated themselves never had a good outcome, it is not going to be different for the US. Whilst I don't want to see that happen to the US you're deluded if you think you're so important the world will stop working without you.
I totally agree with you and I couldn't hope any more that we are wrong.

Losing 3% of your GDP during an economic crisis is really bad. China's economy is stillborn if it tries to fight a trade war before fully transitioning out of this model that relies so heavily upon exports. I have premonitions of a future where they try to lie their way out of it (although God knows how) and that fails tremendously.
This is going to be a really fun decade for people like you.

The USA is now a net food importer :story:

instead of wasting fuel sending it to the ladyboys to do that
It isn't wastage, for many sea routes where the trade direction is very imbalanced, shipping companies cut the rates for shipping in the opposite direction to basically zero, since they're going to travel in that direction anyway.
And many ships cannot sail empty because they need ballast for stability, so even the lowest profit cargo is necessary.

Companies will do what they need to do to make profits.
I never liked this line of argumentation because it implies that companies are less evil than they usually are. People can be true believers or join cults, and there's no reason to think a company made up of people can't have the same flaws on a bigger scale. You should consider that there might be companies out there that are just as deranged as any random twitter user you'll find online. If they are doing something evil, usually they also enjoy it, and aren't just making utilitarian judgements about their own bank account.

There's also the issue that the end goal of money isn't always more money because you do need to spend it at some point or it's worthless. You can spend it on influence by funding elections, you could buy twitter, you could lobby to pass laws to make yourself more powerful (and probably make more money anyway). Usually companies balloon in size and become too bloated to survive because spending money is fun, like how unity had to dump half their employees after over-hiring for years and spending all their revenue on acquiring more companies. It also shows that even when companies love money they make fucking retarded decisions just like everyone. Yes, I'm responding to just one line in a post. It's nothing personell, kid.

You're pretending there is an infinite amount of food and that other nations also don't import food.
Will the Beaner/Europoor farmer sell his food to the middle east or China. The answer is to who ever will pay more and if China's economy is not growing because the US isn't importing as much shit they won't be able to afford out bidding the Arabs.

Argentina exports pears to the asian market and they packaged them
Why does it have to be the Asians packaging the peaches? Why couldn't it be done in Argentina or in America? Oh right because in Thailand the people there work for 11$/hr compared to most states here that have it mostly around 14$/hr and benefits and pro worker laws. Stop trying to defend these scumfucks taking away jobs from Americans just so they can have their slaves do it cheaper.
