This is not a EU thing, this is how laws work in every country. Use your 3 remaining braincells and think: if you can break the regulations by importing it, that would mean everyone would produce abroad for a lower, dangerous standard. The US can sell beef in the EU, just not ones pumped full of trash chemicals. Seems like the regulations are not just "make up rules and feel important", considering poor Europeans live longer than rich Americans.

The EU doesn't ban US products, it bans products that doesn't meet their standard. If US companies want to sell in the EU, the product has to meet that legal standard. And if somehow you still don't understand what is the difference between this and a tariff, this higher standard applies to all producers, including their own.
