Anime/Manga - Discuss Japanese cartoons and comics here; NO CULTURE WAR DOOMPOSTING!

Watamote only getting one season is criminal. I need more of the socially awkward cringe lord
Anyone got recommendations for similar shows? I've been on a binge of shows that punch me right in my social anxiety because I enjoy suffering apparently

I finished march comes in like a lion and komi can't communicate so far, was gonna check out bochi and the rock next. Any others worth checking out?
Reminds me of the ultimate food ordering segment in anime

while you children are arguing about MHA and Vigilantes, i decided to take the boomer pill and read Ashita no Joe

So "Lazarus" was simply there, neither good nor bad enough to evoke any interest, but seeing Jason Demarco as "Executive Producer" never inspires confidence. From what I have gleaned, Demarco has quit social media entirely because he was getting insulted and torched on Twitter and BlueSky. Negative responses to Uzumaki alone probably got to him. However, if he isn't online, how can he post about how he was "screwed over by the production" of the latest mess he proudly had his name stapled onto.

Joe beats out your favorite anime protagonist every single day of the week.

As an aside, I'm really concerned about the manga sales for the English rerelease. They're like 60 bucks a volume and the quality isn't really all that good for what you're getting. It's not going to stop me from buying every single one because I love this series too much, however I can't imagine anyone other than diehard fans of a fantastic manga/anime to ever bother buying volumes of this. It is nice to finally have manga volumes that are right to left though...

Is there any good new manga/anime lately? CITY's anime adaptation looks like it will be just as funny as Nichijou's, but the rest looks like the usual gary stu/mary sue gundamslop, isekai haremshit, or unfunny high school garbage.

Thanks for letting me know, I gave up on buying manga for the most part but I'm hopeful that they won't mess up a release like this. It's on sale for $36 right now and that's not bad for 580 pages.

Is the manga worth getting into? I was thinking about it but as you mentioned it sounds like it did a genre shift
"genre shift" is a bit too strong, she's still a weirdo but has more friends than she used to, most of which are only normal on a very surface level.

I stopped caring about MHA back in 2018, but this is one of the openings I've heard in a while. Kocchi no Kento never disappoints.
This season already seems way better than the previous one. I watched the first episode of GQuuuuuuX, Lazarus and Kowloon Generic Romance. I'm also thinking about starting Witch Watch, because I love Sket Dance and maybe Anne Shirley.

I'm just going to wait for GQuuuuuuX to be over before I watch it as Gundam shows lately have had good starts and then fell off in the second half. I also imagine that any fun I could have discussing it online will also be ruined by people talking about yuri and other things I don't care about.

That title makes me physically ill... Just, why?

Started watching Kenshin again alongside the running nuKenshin which recently got season 3 confirmed, and I've been comparing each episode. The visuals alone are simply night and day, but I think that goes without saying... The vibrant colors of the digital age are a poor substitute for the muted and somber tones needed for showcasing bloody samurai battles with some tact. I have no excitement at all for the upcoming Kyoto arc, because it's just not going to hold up.

Vintage Kenshin is like a soap opera with swords, but in a good way. There are often episodes with minimal flashy fights at all, but the cinematography and music just elevate it beyond any modern production, it keeps me hooked to watching.
