Devil May Cry to get an animated series from creator of Castlevania Netflix series - Bootleg Multiverse

Shankar has this desperate aura of wanting to be cool thats always surrounding him. Literal embodiment of DMC DMC Dante tbh.

Which honestly fits him because his writing style is like hes a ninth grader that was forced to go to Sunday School by his Mom. The Excess swearing, the constant Christianity and America bashing etc. All fit that perfectly.
Shankar would fit right at home writing a story about DMC Devil May Cry. Hell, he looks like the games director Tameem.

So its clear that he just doesn't get the characters. Vergil is not heroic, his motivation on itself is neutral (he wants power so never again hes a scared little boy watching his mother die), but the method isnt. In the prequel manga for 5, V just stand and watches as the evil tree kills people, because just because its his human side, doesnt mean its his good side.

While its a fanfic, I really like Rebirth, where even after coming back to Earth and trying to live with Dante, its clear that he got no regrets, he may not be kiling people all around, but at no point he thinks "maybe almost destroying the world to survive was a bad idea", the thing that matter is his survival, if others died, its because they were weak.

Its even worse than that, you can argue that he's trolling but given the show is portraying the Demons as sympathetic...

It 100% wasn't.

Nobody relevant supports the Iraq War...hell most of the people that do aren't hate the MAGA GOP like Cheny, the entire GOP Base basically admits the Iraq war was a major fuck up. I literally have no idea who this scene is actually supposed to be speaking to because the Left has completely forgotten that the Bush Era GOP got us into a failed forever War and the GOP base no longer supports it.
Those MAGA GOP are historically illiterate as the United States' had been in the "forever war" since Carter had the Shah overthrown. Between the "Tanker War" with Iran in the 80ies, Desert Shield and Desert Storm with Iraq, and to the enforcement of the Iraqi no fly zones. On to Dubya using 9/11 to tied up the Iraqi loose end with Operation: Iraqi Freedom. And then to proceed to repeatedly fuck everything up after Saddam is toppled and later captured.

And that is the part that woke them up to the forever war bullshit, America doesn't "Fight Wars" anymore we "Nation Build"

It just took the Voter base forever to realize it.

It took months for the attentive realists to notice it and especially after Dubya bungle handling Al-Sadr. The more wishful hopefuls it was years but even they realized it by the 06 mid-terms.

Seeing people do a 180° turn from loving the show to hating it because of Adi flirting with Asmon.

I hated the show because it was a disgrace to the source material by being a horrible adaptation with bad writing.

They hated the show because of Adi's fence sitting politics, Asmon simping, and going to the Trump inauguration.

We are not the same.

I've watched some of the Influencer/soy interviews out of curiosity and I'm dying from cringe.

They put Shankar in a suit and shaved him but he is still insanely bad at interviews, even with 5 min cuts. I feel really bad for Johnny, he's just twiddling his thumbs off to the side. The chick is nice but she's getting all the questions and hogging the spotlight.

Shankar was so bafflingly bad I finally started digging into him to figure out what the hell is going on. I'm sure it's been posted in his thread, but he's a total empty suit and that explains everything. The dude basically uses a tax loophole to get his name plastered up front because he's providing money while the director and writer do the bulk of everything. He may genuinely have some ideas and passion, but the dude is piggybacking everyone. It explains why "his" work was so dam erratic in quality. He's definitely a sketchy, but I will say id rather watch something he takes credit for then most modern shitpile game productions like halo, fallout, borderlands or whatever. I don't know if it's because he lets the director have more control (in exchange for his name on the cover) or if he lets more shit slide, but there's a raw untamed torrent of ideas that I find engaging in success and failure.

Thats an insult to RE movies.

While slop and wtf a lot of the time, it had zero politics or shitting on anyone irl.
Almost, the fifth film implied a cold war arms race was to blame for the outbreak before they dropped that plotline.

There's a good chance Shankar was naive enough to not realize the implications of the political shit and just thought of it as early 2000s window dressing. Especially after I learned from two best friends that Shankar moved to new York right before 9 11. ( Pat has a baby! Wow!)

Heck the vaguely soy guest was trying to imply and demonize Shankar for going to the Trump rally. Props to Pat and Woolie for not going there.

Honestly the sheer amount of lady hate fascinates me. I may be the only person who enjoyed what they did with her. Pat referring to her as turbo fascist Hitler was pretty funny though, I forgot how she called Dante a couple of demon slurs

Apparently the show worked out for Capcom.

Honestly I'm glad these people see Shankar's politics for what they are especially the people who glazed the show for the war on terror stuff have an egg on their face when that was just for Adi to go "MUNDUS DID NOTHING WRONG" and making the humans worse

For or against the politics they're riffing in this are embarrassingly late.

This is early 2000s "I'm starting college and just realized I think war is bad" level. And late. So late. (Some of the music too.)

Their allegories always put the supposed allegory for brownoids as literal demons and nasty aliens. Why couldn't they have just added in actual characters that were fleeing something and trying to shake it and have them interact with Dante or something, like he has to save them or whatever and it highlights their plight. Aside from disagreeing with a lot of their politics the rub is just that they're so so so so so so BAD at doing it. Desecrating beloved franchises is just the salt in the wound.

Shit like this is why anime is so popular. Whenever there is any western made cartoon. This is what they fucking do with it.

It still wouldn't matter. It's freaking DMC. There shouldn't even be anything allegorical in there in the first place. Do that with something else, in particular, something more mature and grounded, not something that was never meant to be taken seriously or be realistic.

I agree. I'm just pointing out how embarrassingly poor their ideas and writing are. They use the same trick for every franchise they take over. The same exact one. Every time.

Lady's and gentlemen the reason I enjoyed this anime.

( Oh man I hope he recorded more lines)

I hate to be that contrarian asshole but there's something in the ingredients for this that make me think this was more earnest then subversive. Let's take a look at the writer....

Oh.. huh. Well what are his credits?

It has very little to do with Far Cry: Blood Dragon, but it does the same "subversive" nonsense since it's whatever Adi's bootleg universe is supposed to be. Rayman swears a lot as a talk show host and does hard drugs on top of being an alcoholic.
