Which does not change numbers they showed, the supposed admission that he took money from donations for his own company to run his event, and that someone go paid by the foundation while the money was sitting there. When you read the description of the gofundme, at no point does he mention what the defamation is about.

It is heavily implied that it's about calling Billy a cheater though, since he mentions the word "cheating" twice in the first paragraph, directly followed by saying the lawsuit is about defamation.

Another fun detail is that in the last paragraph he says that when he wins he will use that money to host a grand gaming tournament in "his" honour but it is never made clear who he is referring to.

A quick napkin-math-formula for how much a YouTuber makes just from ad revenue is that 100 000 10 minute views nets you 1500 USD after YouTube takes their cut. And having a tiny monetized channel myself with a few mildly viral videos I’d say this is pretty accurate.

Using this formula and looking at his view count for the last 3 months I’d estimate that he made 120 000 USD the last three months just from ad revenue and YouTube Premium. That’s not including sponsorships, Twitch, channel subscriptions, Patreon, merch sales or anything else.

After he got caught, he admitted it was spliced and submitted it to the segmented category rather than the single segment category. It was accepted because no hacks were used during the segments, so therefore the segments were acceptable, obviously.

IIRC, the guy didn't even get caught. After his normal non-cheated run of Metal Gear Rising at SGDQ, he decided to play back a segmented "WR" run of the DLC and pretend that he was doing it live. Afterwards he had a short rant about his thoughts and dissatisfaction with the current state of organized speedrunning.
At the time everyone thought the run was legit, but like a day later he came out on his own and admitted it wasn't a legit run and he wanted to go out with a bang essentially, showing off speedrunning at its best.
I never religiously followed Karl Jobst, but his shitty biased video about that controversy which left out any and all important context and information that might make Mekarazium look like anything but some vilified selfish scumbag turned me around hard on this Aussie faggot.
