The death of 4chan may spell the end of imageboards in general, which ultimately is a huge win for centralized social media and trooncord. No one will ever be able to convince me that 4chan, as garbage as it often is, is worse than xitter and reddit. The same applies to message boards such as this one - I don't want to see them disappear in favor of social media "apps" owned by billionaire technocrats.

Best case scenario is 4chan stays dead and and a superior altchan (other than the sharty) takes its place, but that is way too optimistic and I'm not counting on it.

4chan wont stay dead, it became "alt tech" for normal fags and it keeps them from looking for actual alt tech solutions thinking they already found the "epic underbelly of the web"

This is true, especially in /generals/ that saw participation from a core group of regulars. There's a reason that "reddit spacing" became such a tell that it turned into a meme of its own. There were other tells as well, but the only advantage it gave you is the ability to filter out those posts (either with a user script or mentally) so that your own posting experience was not made worse.

The same way any hacked site comes back: by identifying the exploited vuln, patching it, and doing a database restore (or just starting all forums from scratch who care). The process is not a mystery. The question is whether NewMoot has the money/desire to finance this.

I don't see why people would stop buying 4chan gold. Having your email leaked is potentially embarrassing, but neither their payment details nor their associated posts were leaked AFAIK. Dip in site traffic is a real concern because it'll take them at least a week (if not more) to unfuck everything and in that time the degenerates would have spread out to other places to get their daily dose of human interaction.

Filtering was actually really effective against raiders. They couldn't get any reactions from the thread since everyone collectively ignored them, so they just fucked off on their own. A few even did this with some of the more obnoxious regulars too so the cunts would behave when they get too autistic.

Goddamn it, I just realized that I have nowhere to talk about the Pokémon TCG anymore. Reddit's a cesspool, Twitter is incompatible with long posts, and most of the other sites I've seen are garbage.

I was thinking about making a TCG-centric board on 8chan.moe but that seems to be taken up by their /v/ and /tg/ boards.

Most, if not all raiders are easy to distinguish from normal users by the way they write and behave, to a trained eye of a regular 4chan user the difference between a Discord troon and the schizo regular are quite obvious, and thus any sort of astroturfing would be useless since to them the raider doesn't pass, in fact it's only effective in causing anger and reaffirming the current opinion they're trying to change, and if they're insufferable enough even cause several of the more vitriolic Anons to start counter shitposting. Unfortunately it works wonders on other tourists and screenappers that don't know any better, and they get tricked into believing that the astroturf campaign is actually the prevailing opinion on the board.

Another real problem is their ability to bring the board to a halt (or at least the few threads they were sent to brigade), because unlike a regular that sticks to posting in one or two threads while lurking others, they shitup the whole board because they're here on a mission, not to have "fun" and discuss various topics. But then again most of them get active when there's a happening so the board was gonna be unusable with or without them.

Yeah, this is why I respect some spammers but not others. Some don't want to see the board burn, they just want the mods and jannies to not be fags and do their jobs.

For example, I'll respect /vp/'s Tailsposter (despite his whole shtick being that he posts the infamous TBOF comic and its relatives) because he keeps his shit to furry threads that have no business on /vp/ but I have zero respect for /co/'s Perispammer because he just floods the board with SU/Peridot porn whenever a mod deletes a Peridot-centric thread.

I used to filter blacked threads out and that alone wiped out half the board on /gif/. It was like a ghost town. At any given time there were like 11 threads just for interracial blacked porn, not including the WMAF shit. Add tranny porn into that and it was fucking dead. Every porn thread wasn't even mostly porn, either. It was all retards arguing about their penis size.

There had to be something fucked with the mods/jannies on /gif/, because other "porn" boards were not as bad.

I had the same experience and I unironically credit it with causing me to quit looking at porn. I have a distinct memory of scrolling through the catalog manually hiding all the shit I didn't want to see singing "Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick" in my head except it was "miss me with that nigger shit", which then translated into me noticing just how much nigger, faggot, tranny, anal, quasipedophilia and incest shit was being pushed on "normal" sites. Eventually just avoiding all that became so annoying that I just stopped altogether.

And that was like a decade ago, I can only imagine how bad it is now.

It would be most likely that every janny account belonging to a fed is a shared account. I've seen schizoaffective moderation from that janny multiple times. It wasn't even worth the hassle because there are too many mentally ill posters who click on your shit. Some of the Unreal trannies on /lit/ get upset when other anon projects take away discussion from their circlejerk “literary magazine”, and then they will actively post bad things about your story and openly talk about campaigning against other posters in their /wg/ discord.

Meanwhile you post an ad for a story on a site like Royal Road and you get way more bang for your buck without any schizophrenics tagging along. At this point I think the only people posting ads regularly are AI porn sites and Tamil Nadu /biz/posting shitcoiners

PDF (and user submitted content) sanitizing is basic shit; they really must have not given a shit about updating the site or its security if they fucked that up.
And if this is true, then they need an almost total re-write, or to switch to a different more modernized imageboard engine entirely.
Switching is probably the better option at this point, because who at this point will be willing to fund a developer to update and then maintain the code?
