Jim Sterling / James "Stephanie" Sterling / James Stanton/Sexton & in memoriam TotalBiscuit (John Bain) - One Gaming Lolcow Thread

That's retard bullshit too. If people didn't want things to be bigger and better we would still be on shitty beep boop Atari games. If something is not better than last time, what's the point in buying something better? Just because YOU don't want something better doesn't mean that isn't how most other people feel about it. It's almost entirely non-gamers who go "You already have a Nintendo. Why do you want a Super Nintendo?"
These are false equivalences. There's a difference between comparing NES to SNES and companies ballooning their budgets because they assume every new game needs to push it. Games can be better without just being bigger/more expensive.

But how can I enjoy game if there isn't a colossal open world filled to the absolute brim with nothing to explore. Portal was pretty good, but it would have been better had I been able to go outside and craft consumables.

But also, the number of people who work on a game is higher proportionally than the number of people buying the games.
That's true, but huge portions of these people are outsourced to shitholes like India or the shittier slant countries and paid pennies for their work, and it's still a poor return on investment because the games they produce are inferior to what 5 or 6 guys in the 90s could cook up between eating pizza and playing DnD all night.
And they do buy them. And they do want more. And they don't want it to be the same.
And it's unsustainable, which is why many of the big publishers are absolutely shitting bricks and constantly closing subsidiary studios while begging customers to get okay with not owning anything they buy (but also pay an extra 20 bucks for it).
Nobody gives a shit what you want. You aren't the wider audience.
Tell that to Ubisoft's shareholders.

Amusingly, before Jim lost the last remaining crumbs of his shit he opined this very statement.

"Publishers don't want some money, they want all the money, as much as could conceivably be had."

And as has been and will be pointed out many times before and after, when your entire goal is line must go up, you (somehow) forget that reality doesn't work like that. Line, literally, cannot go up forever. But we live in worst timeline, where a warehouse of brand new IP will be burnt to the ground to make line go up for one additional day.

This is one of the few old Jim lines I still remember, because it keeps getting more true.

I don't know how you can expect infinite growth in a hobby with a finite and continually segmenting playerbase, but I'm coming round to Null's theory that the people making these decisions know this can't go on forever and are trying to stuff their own wallets as much as they can before peacing out and leaving the company/industry in shambles.

All in all it's a great time to have zero interest in any new games coming out. I have nothing left to lose.

The problem is mostly that the zingy one-liner doesn't really capture the actual source of the retardation.

They don't expect line to go up forever arbitrarily. Rather, they're looking at their line, and then they're looking at fortnites line, and fortnites line is way higher, and they're saying "I want that". Much of the unrealistic growth expectation is rooted in "Well someone's already managed it, so its not like its impossible, just do that". Its the same reason the industry is incredibly incestuous and trend chasing, they want the better number and want to do it the same way the other guy did it.

Same general issue forms with investor motivations and obligations. You're not merely competing to hold onto investors with theoretical gains that can't actually be reached by anyone. You're actively attempting to retain them in the face of the literal money printers the industry has made. You really do have to try and do better than fortnite, faster than fortnite, because if you can't then they might as well invest in fortnite.

As for new games coming out, I'm pretty checked out too. Been thinking of Picking up Schedule 1, but otherwise its been indie stuff or old AAA games I already bought and want to finish/replay. Doesn't help that the fields are pretty barren with everyone scurrying to avoid GTA6.

Not much of a theory when people have done that all the time in other industries.

It's a theory in so far as a lot of people prefer to believe tanking the AAA industry is a Jewish psyop or the work of globohomo etc.

That's true, but I still don't understand how they're too stupid to realise it doesn't work like that. Especially with things like live service games which require a considerable and consistent commitment; even if you wanted to there literally isn't enough time to play every live service game unless you are a millionaire NEET.

I guess the mindset is 'but our live service is going to be different to all those failures' and the industry is so random they could be right, but it's a huge gamble to take when you could have far more consistent success putting out modestly budgeted titles made by small teams.

Has Jim reacted to him legally never being a woman yet?
Yes.

Kinda.
I have no idea who the fuck he is talking about. I highly fucking doubt there is more than one person that reads the news and decides to email(???????????????????????) fucking jim sterling about it? If there's more than one person then idk I'll eat Jim's wresting outfit or some shit. Maybe he's saying emailing as a subtle way of saying this thread without saying the devils name or some shit because I just do not buy that anyone on this planet is that retarded.
Also news isn't a bad thing for 'queer' people, just trannies, even then it's not even actually bad news, they still get unfair amounts of coddling and protection regardless of what biology says.

Also worth saying that Jim has recently changed his account to be sign in only, used to be anyone could see it without signing in. It's the most interesting thing to happen with his bs account for a while so.

Financial growth isn't the same as making games bigger and better. You guys really ARE the other end of the retard gaming horseshoe.

Edit: yeah, you got me guys, keep negrating my posts, get that seethe out. You still have time to get on the titty skittles and put a mop on your head to join Jim if you really want to.

The under 700,000 sub special coinciding with the ruling that trans aren't real women would be pretty funny. The trans genocide happening in the UK that Jim is always going on about, is finally real.
We are 35k before that. It's mean at least a whole year until that, unless he'll do another banger like Hogwarts legacy vid and accelerate drop from current drip.

That's irrelevant because AAA publishers are doing neither.

You came into the thread to be deliberately disruptive and insult people, and just like Jim you've provided no solutions or alternatives; only told us we're retarded for thinking worse games shouldn't cost more money.

I choose to keep the faith that even more TTD laws will be enacted in that time so Jim is only going to be even angrier when sub-700k finally comes.

He might start dressing like ADF and pivot the JQ to be some sort of trans resistance show.

My brother in Christ, games are becoming bigger. Literally. There are no latest releases by big publishers that are below 60 gigs of disk space. Not to mention, they're demanding to be installed on SSD or you have to wait up to several minutes of loading time.

Bitch i've been posting in this thread forever. Fuck you. You're a massive retard and the sooner you kill yourself the better.

P.S. I'm not providing a solution because my solution is that you shut the fuck up and stop demanding luxury items be priced for your poor, brain dead ass. Die in poverty. The games will go up in price. They will be more ambitious. And you can die in a ditch like the hobo you are.

I'm not demanding anything. If games become too expensive I'll just stop buying them and read more books. Like I said I have nothing to lose.

I don't know if you should get a top hat for being platinum mad or a rainbow for such a stupidly naive claim. Enjoy your $100 goyslop. Remember to buy the season pass like a good little consoomer.

That's a rather fat trolling. I have to use spirits to clean my screen from the grease
