General Wrestling Discussion

Here's the final card for NXT Stand & Deliver:
- (Pre-Show) WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Number One Contenders: Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson vs Fallon Henley and Jacy Jayne vs Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley vs Cora Jade and Roxanne Perez
- Six Man Tag Team: The D'Angelo Family (Tony D, Stacks Lorenzo, Luca Crusifino) vs DarkState (Dion Lennox, Cutler James, Saquon Shugars, w/Osiris Griffin)
- NXT Tag Team Championship: Nathan Frazer and Axiom (c) vs Hank Walker and Tank Ledger
- NXT Women's North American Championship Ladder Match: Zaria vs Kelani Jordan vs Sol Ruca vs Izzi Dame vs Lola Vice vs Thea Hail
- NXT North American Championship: Ricky Saints (c) vs Ethan Page
- NXT Women's Championship: Stephanie Vaquer (c) vs Giulia vs Jordynne Grace vs Jaida Parker
- NXT Championship: Oba Femi (c) vs Trick Williams vs Je'Von Evans

I think Hank and Tank will win. It's time for Fraxiom to come to Smackdown.

If Cora and Roxanne win the four-way, I can see a program with them and Lyra and Bayley if they win the belts. Wasn't really expecting them to though.

I hope Thea wins the ladder match.

The reason I asked about Dragon Gate earlier is that the modern "flippy" style has a lot of roots there: CIMA coming over to early ROH and PWG and bringing over DG people leads to so much of the genealogy of modern wrestling through common trainers, etc. DGUSA is eventually established, using ROH/PWG/CZW talent along with CHIKARA, who employ Skayde as a trainer (who had a hand in training a lot of the Ultimo Dragon/Toryumon people, and CHIKARA people) until he tries to scam Quackenbush, and then CHIKARA/CZW/ROH trainees eventually being trained by Hero, Castagnoli, Chuck Taylor, Drew Gulak, etc. DGUSA eventually bleeds into EVOLVE, which then bleeds into NXT.

I think you can probably give Michinoku Pro a little credit, too. Especially with those Kaientai multi-man tags.

When I watched that Blood Generation/Do Fixer ROH match the first time, I was basically reminded of the multi-man from Barely Legal 97.

if they're gonna give Flair the world title for the 14th fuckin time, I think they'll do it dirty, she is the clear heel of the feud, maybe a ref bump leads to a chairshot, otherwise it would be a blatant burial of a younger talent if she beat Tiff clean.

The Charlotte situation has put WWE in a bind. She has genuine go away heat from the fans, so if Charlotte wins the fans are pissed off in the wrong way. But if Charlotte doesn't win, the go away heat probably isn't going away so then how do they book Charlotte? I would just say fuck it and have Tiffy win clean, put the young wrestler with potential over and if Charlotte wants to take her ball and go home then let her.

Humble her, do the bum-ass Baron Corbin angle where she hits rock bottom and then actually grows and develops into a character people can feel sympathy for. She's been "muh dad / muh fake titles" for too long. Nobody cares about her winning 16 titles because 1) it's gay and meaningless and 2) woman's wrestling is a giant meme.

Oh, you're very correct on that - good call. Michi Pro and DG/Toryumon seem very similar culturally, in terms of "dudes who don't fit in elsewhere full-time make their own way together."

How accurate do you think this finding is?

I think they need to go all in. This whole feud has been so wretched, but Tiffany retaining would feel like such a dud. I like Tiffany but I don't think she was ready to be champion yet, and I don't think her heelish character works well as a babyface. She was always a heel in NXT and that's what she was good at.

As for Charlotte, the fans really do hate her, which I think is a little unfair. A lot of the reason they hate her is because of how she's historically been booked, but she's not the one writing the show or anything. I think she's incredibly talented, some of my favorite women's matches of all time are Charlotte matches, but fans don't like her. I say lean all the way into it. Let fans think what they want. Let them think that Charlotte lobbied to be the champion. Even imply that Tiffany losing was punishment for the 0-3 comment. And then have Charlotte have some great PPV matches and rub it in their faces.

People will boo like crazy when Charlotte wins, but I think it's the best thing for both of them.
