The Israel Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) has launched an electronic travel authorization (ETA) program that began on June 1, 2024. The new system, known as ETA-IL, will require tourists and business travelers from visa-exempt countries (such as the United States) to submit a travel authorization form online prior to travel.

• Beginning January 1, 2025, ETA-IL will be mandatory for all travelers from visa-exempt countries, including the United States, and will cost NIS 25 per visitor.

Travelers are recommended to submit their ETA at least 72 hours before their trip to Israel begins. Travelers who land at Ben Gurion Airport and have an approved ETA-IL will be able to proceed directly to border control e-gates without stopping at the border control officers if they receive a permit from an automated border control kiosk.

The validity period for the ETA-IL will be two years or until passport expiration, whichever is shorter. ETA-IL authorization permits multiple entries for stays of up to 90 days per visit.

ETA-IL authorization only allows a visitor to reach the border crossing into Israel, it does not grant someone permission to enter or reside in Israel.
