I genuinely wonder if even a quarter of them will return after this. So many outlets have their information and nothing short of a total pruning of the internet itself can get rid of that.

Even if they don't return the users need to make sure their past contributions are appreciated, by posting treads about them thanking them for their service.

One thing I’ve noticed about all of these people is their occupations in Academia. Many are also journalists. Are they connected to .gov ? My personal guess would be yes, for most of them.

Mr VacBob has an admin account, so there aren’t any specific boards we can use for cross-reference.
 I think that the white shirt author guy is too talented and busy with irl things to be the guy. Also the Uni councilor Andrew is around 47 based on the arrest. The NYU guy is in his late 60s. 
 Oh, the crime info doesn’t match the initial soyjack phone booking. That one gives a DOB of 9/4/2000.
 The socials phone booking pages from Sharty don’t look consistent with each other; there’s some vampire-loving teenager stuff there which imo doesn’t gel with being a 4chan admin.
All of that is to say, I don't think it's either of the two guys you pulled up but I'm also skeptical of it being the ginger fellow from the original post.

Throw a healthy grain of skepticism when doing any research into RapeApe as he is probably the single most important person on team 4chan, and he knows it. I’ve personally spoken to him and he was cautious enough to use a voicechanger on Skype and he’s the type of person who would purposely leave breadcrumbs of false information to mislead anyone looking for him.

There is also zero chance he would allow a photo of himself to be freely available on the internet, he has sysadmin rights to one of the most notorious imageboards in the world. He’s absolutely taken steps to remain hidden.

I guess one possible defense is that they were all made jannies long, long ago when the internet was a very different place?
I mean who nowadays even uses university email addresses for personal stuff to begin with? It seems like a very archaic practice.

I’m not sure how true this is, but can anyone else verify if they seriously had to hand over some form of id to become a janitor or mod? It could be related to that in order to verify who they were maybe?
