As much as I appreciate hi-rez scans and uploads, sadpanda has been pretty ruthless with a lot of recent doujinshi and the filesize (at least for the artists I follow). 500GB for an 84-page gallery gets tedious. I've been meaning to find a good way to resize the images while retaining the quality but I kept balking at the idea of wandering into a conversation about that on /g/.

To be honest, manga should compress well with PNG, with a color palette of maybe 32 shades of black and gray, and large swaths of white pixels. A lot of people don't optimize their PNGs, though. I run all mine through oxipng to drop them down to minimal filesize. It makes them load slightly slower (only potatoes or embedded devices should see a difference), but it's worth it. The reason most things don't actually save at max compression is it takes time. Optimizing a large PNG might take a few seconds on a single thread of my 13900 (and it only uses multithreading to do multiple files at once).

The color has been like this for a long while, it just goes from oldest (red, most intense light before white) to newest (purple (pink? am I colorblind?), most dispersed (perceivable) light before black).

New places will sprout up if they haven't already for anything worth a damn. It'll just annoy me when I see twitter troons and redditors say 4channers lost when in fact they've been freed, the site has just been an inescapable cage for anyone who wants an active imageboard to engage with.

Sure, we're all probably being milked for content now, live lolcows in action. But here, in all seriousness, I'm regretting being a bit too cavalier because after being about the diaspora here and across other message boards, I'm after realising there's lads that are a bit worried and upset about their identity being leaked. I'm a millennial/gen X and jaded as fuck, so I don't really care, but not everyone's attitude is as suicidal as mine. Some people are legit worried they're going to be ruined for not even breaking any laws.
