Which is unbelievable. There's not a soul on Earth who wouldn't value them if they had them, maybe not as much as other stuff, but the fag acted like they were a burden or useless at best.
That's because Mob wanted to be liked for who he was outside something he didn't work for, his powers were something he was born with, he never worked for them.
Dimple in the anime is that side of the debate, "you have super powers, why do you care about doing anything else, you could do anything with them".
And Mob is the other side of the debate, "I want to work for something that I get to own myself, not something that I was just being given".

Both ideologies are valid and this is what most of the anime is about.

but Mob cannot get anything that he wants using his psychic powers

he can't get a strong muscular body, he can't make friends, he can't make his loved ones happy with psychic powers
Technically, he could get all those with psychic powers, as shown in the manga/show, but it wouldn't feel real to him because he would get that through force with something he never worked for himself but something that was given to him (his powers).

that's why it's so unabashedly awesome when Dimple flips the script

nah there were reasons presented for why the psychic muscles were bunk. When the track team hulked up they ran through psychic muscle like a freight train because they had built their bodies up on multiple levels and just steamrolled that guy

He could easily make friends with it, and in fact he did do that. He could also protect and enrich his family and friends, which would make them happy. I think he can also get ripped too, one dude used his powers to do that (maybe it's a power exclusive to him).

At any rate, they're certainly no burden, at least not anymore, though he did have difficulty with it as a kid. Back to DBZ, Gohan is a better example of how to portray not valuing your powers over normal things. Gohan prefers studying and goofing around over fighting or getting stronger, he'd rather play with his daughter than fire a Kamehameha but never considers his powers a burden, in fact quite the opposite.

Mob is poorly conceived.

Oh yeah, because those muscles were "fake", but he could have gotten those muscles, even if it was fake, but the message of the show was basically "you can't beat the real deal".
What I was trying to say is that he could have "cheated" to achieve those goals, but they wouldn't feel as real as if he actually worked for them, like Teruki who lost all his "friends" after losing just once, and having Tsubomi fall in love with him through brainwashing wouldn't make it real either, so Dimple's argument was that he "could get those things", but it would never feel real.

Mob is poorly conceived.
The reason Mob considers them a burden is because he can't control them. Which ends up hurting people around him. So he wants to do things right by his friends, his family, etc. By doing things without his power. That's not poorly conceived, it all makes sense.

I understand, I just don't think Mob's ideology is realistic.

nah he only made those friends because he refused to abuse his psychic powers to such an extent it rubbed off on them and they heel-face-turned
Aside from the blonde psychic I'm not sure that's true. His master, the umbrella guy, and the girl who was a writer liked him anyway. And whether he abused his powers or not that exercise group would've liked him still.

Idk, he controls them pretty well when he doesn't think his family has been burned to death or his master cut down before his very eyes. And even then he's surprisingly lucid, I wouldn't be.

it's not worth defending forever, like I'll fight you over dbz but this is just mob psycho 100. The comparison to One Punch Man is apt, they're on the same level.

If I were to try to score them I'd say 8/10

a 9/10 would be something that pushes my buttons specifically, like something that really activates the inner ten-year-old like Idaten Deities. Or something that's unarguably peak like Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer, those are 9/10

a 10/10 is something I would fight you over. Dragon Ball. I can't think of another one off the top of my head. Is there one?

He didn't think his master was cut down, he protected him.
The narrator said something like he subconsciously transferred his powers to him, but he did think he died for a moment.

The first Season of Mob Psycho was pretty good, but when I watched the second, I was a bit disappointed.
The fights were way better, I'll give it that. The teleporting dude was cool as hell, I wanted more like that.

The first season was funny and interesting. I especially liked Reigen, he was a nice balance between mentor and conman. And the "twist" towards the end regarding him was well done and exiting. Cant recall a lot about the second season, but it tried to be too emotional or deconstructed characters or something, which irked me the wrong way.

Why the fuck are we spending 2 pages talking about that Mob nerd in the anime about a conman with a heart of gold

Hot take: I actually like the guilty gear adaption thats running rn. No I haven't played the games. It reminds me though of the kinda shitty Saturday morning cartoons I grew up with, so it's nostalgic in that way.

Also Kowloon Generic Romance is actually fucking hype and I don't get why nobody is talking about it.

OPM and Mob are both cases of a premise that only lasts a season. OPM doesn't have anything more to go for besides Coom material. Meanwhile Mob has really good side characters that are more interesting and relatable.
no way, OPM has plenty of characters to go to. The Garo arc was sick as fuck. There's still plenty of material in King and Genos

From what I've watched, Mob is solidly mid. It has peaks, sure, but it's very middle of the road for me tbh. Fire Force is what I consider peak Shonen shit. Batshit plot, good fights, and engaging enough to make me read the manga.

Too many characters, I stopped reading partway through the Garo arc because it got a Bleach sized cast that I didn't care about most of it.
