Mr. Enter obviously hasn't read the original books either because they're totally different to the cartoon. I'm not a brit but I did read both the original Horrid Henry books and watch the animated series as a kid. Horrid Henry as a book series really didn't translate very well into animation. The books are hilarious while the TV show is dull and painful to watch. Even the original author Francesca Simon wasn't very happy with the cartoon as the characterisations are radically different between the TV and book series.


You're supposed to feel sorry for the Henry's parents and the other children and adults he terrorises in the book. He's a literal sociopath in the making. The portrayal of Henry in the cartoon is not at all faithful to the book. Cartoon Henry isn't an angel but a troubled, misunderstood kid with a kind heart who you feel sorry for instead. He isn't even really "horrid" which defeats the whole purpose of "Horrid Henry".

It's been well over a decade since I've even really thought of Horrid Henry but he was a little shit at times even in the cartoon. I remember one episode where he tricks his little brother to hide inside their trash and he almost got tossed into the back of a garbage truck. Even I thought "damn he nearly fucking killed him" at the time. I can imagine them tonning the show down to "give it more mass appeal" or something though. Surprised to hear the original author disliked the show, didn't it get several seasons? It was fairly popular when it was running iirc.

Most of the neckbeards in the cartoon community glaze modern SpongeBob believe it or not. They claim that season 6-8 was the show's dark age and that it made a resurgence after the second movie, blindly ignoring the fact that modern SpongeBob has a lot of the same problems that season 6-8 have, including poor writing and flanderization. They used to use the excuse of Stephen Hillenberg coming back as to why SpongeBob is great again but since he's been dead for several years now, they still glaze it for whatever reason.

IMO modern SpongeBob is worse than season 6-8. I don't even think the post movie seasons were that bad.

There are plenty of good episodes in 6-8, don’t get me wrong, but so many episodes from that time period are so bland. Post-second movie episodes are hit or miss but at least they have more flavor to them and are much more unique than 6-8. There are many post-second movie episodes that are just unmistakably dumb and they’re not helped by the over abundance of fast-paced slapstick (the Sandy’s nuts episode Enter talked about is a prime example). And the new characters they’ve added are awful (like Nosferatu does not work as a regular side character). But the ones that are good are like, really good. And yeah like you said the flanderization is still there, Patrick is the worst offender as he’s dumb as ever, arguably worse than 6-8.

Edit: Nvm, the whole video is 90% Musk criticism/original tier jokes (even the obvious ones, which, just because you adknowledge that they are obvious, doesnt make them less so) and 10% "reviewing" the episode which is just basically a big "boy, that didnt age well, did it?" and something about celebrity worship or something. This whole video is just an excuse of his to make very "current" Musk jokes that have John trying to seem smarter than he actually is (nothing new of him).

Also surprising to see him suck off some new simpsons episodes at the start, saying that the series is in its silver age, when the only people I've seen give a shit about nu simpsons are shitty video essayist who think Homer crying is deep or something.

And I also love that he basically nuked Twitter from orbit. I wish he'd do the same to reddit.

He’s talking about it as if it’s another redemption tour but this could also been seen as a Hail Mary of sorts. 60 days of Cartoon Network reviews, combined with a algorithm loving compilation video can do decent numbers if marketed right. Also he talks about a full time job at points, is he still an Internet reviewer full time or did he actually end up wagecucking?
