It made no difference. You couldn't tell if a thread was 1 person or 100 because phone posters can hop IPs easily. Bots can use different IPs or Indians with a wall of smart phones can jump in and out of a thread.
Some people can switch their IP easily. I used VPNs extensively on 4chan, not to shit up the board or anything, just because I was catching annoying 3day bans for the most mundane shit, like getting a ticket for jaywalking. When you use VPNs on 4chan, everytime you switch your IP you HAVE TO DELETE YOUR COOKIES, that means waiting 15 minutes EVERY time you need to post.
You are talking without having the actual experience of evading and hopping on 4chan, you are assuming things. I know this because i learned from real shitposters. The 15 minute wait was a HUGE annoyance to VPN users or IP hopping. Removing the IP count was just shady and scummy bullshit given that the 15 minute wait was in place everytime you had to delete cookies to switch your IP

You can samefag your thread with a VPN and make it seem like it was all done by unique IPs, but that takes time and effort (wait 15 minutes, post, switch IPs, delete cookies, switch ip, wait 15 minutes, post). you can spambot and advertise on 4chan, but you can do it ONLY with a 4chan pass and jannies will turn a blind eye, because it's a tacit agreement. "you jeet up the thread, but you gotta pay"

i don't trust the removal of information that used to be available.
like the memeflags. you could select them from a list when posting. that removed the information of where your post came from. that's the only practical function it had, otherwise it was a lame bumper-sticker piece of flair like you find on tweeter people. memeflags were profusely overdone by the usual suspects until they became synonymous with 2 countries rhyming with israel and india, both of which had massive shill agendas.
removing the unique ip counter, and its timing, was nothing but shenanigans. only scammers and pretenders have any reason to hide or defend hiding what was previously shown

Hiro has a history of not taking people attacking his sites lying down. He's a millionaire and has money tied up in 4chan (a couple of paid staff, 4chan passes, advertisers, and employees of his company Mirai Kensaku Brazil are involved in the running of 4chan too). It might not appear that he cares about the day-to-day running of 4chan, but he cares about the finances and 4chan Community Support LLC. I would be surprised if he doesn't take action of some kind.
From a business perspective he might have grounds to not only press federal charges against sharty, but could also possibly add charges of corporate sabotage and mayyyybe sue sharty for "poaching"

Agree. They deliberately removed INFORMATION available to us. They didn't remove it on their side for sure. fucking jannies could see your entire post history on 4chan like it was reddit.
It was scummy and morally bankrupt

Easter isn't a real holiday.
Last year it is March 31, this year it's April 20th.
Who tf is deciding these dates? The pope? Where's all the protestants to complain about the pope moving their holiday around.
As far as I'm concerned if you don't happen on the same day every year you ain't a holiday. You're a comic con convention, an event.
The Catholic church does actually.

I came across some anons that thought they should totally be believable because they wore a memeflag
"what do you mean I'm larping, don't you see this flag this means I am a true natsoc!"

It's like bruh buying a cool looking shirt at hot topic and wearing it doesn't make you a true follower or even a listener of Metallica

Guaranteed they're going to add some kind of identifiers on the site IF it comes back.
Being the schizo I am. It's either a false flag hack and takedown to force people to Sharty or KF. Or the false flag was merely a backend update they are working on to streamline things. But unlike some others, I don't think theres any way to hide yourself online. AI is hoovering up your data and building a profile. But no human will look at it until a certain number of flags come up. Then either you get in trouble, or more hilariously, the glowies come and ask you to be a contactor for them

You kept getting banned for "no reason" and yet you keep using vpns to get banned again.

You wanted the IP account to discredit people you were talking to and nothing more. It's sad how an inaccurate number matters so much to people.

If you want a crazy conspiracy theory, I saw someone point out that 4chan suspiciously got "hacked" around the time USA AID's massive funding was cut. Coincidence? Maybe.
post hoc, ergo propter hoc. 4chan has been mismanaged for over a decade now and could have eaten shit at any time, even if it was a honeypot it still stands to reason that it should remain up until it exhausts itself. I've never believed the honeypot conspiracy theory, just a government speed dial for getting information from posts with threats in them.

Easter falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the Spring Equinox. Because of this combination of astronomic events (a solar equinox and lunar phase) for deciding the day, the resulting calendar date jumps around, no matter whether you use a solar or lunar calendar. For instance, On the Gregorian Calendar, the one you and I and almost every other person on earth are using today is a solar calendar, and so the Spring Equinox is very consistent on it, occurring between 19-21 March, just a 3 day swing. However, the phases of the moon shift around a lot on the Gregorian Calendar, which is how we can end up in situations such as this year where Easter falls as far forward as 20 April, a whole month after the Spring Equinox. Personally I think Easter should just be tied to the equinox and be done with it, but there are reasons why the Church decides the date the way it does.

edit: pinning the holiday to a specific day of the week will also cause some shift in the date, as I would hope you are aware that dates from year to year do not fall on the same day of the week. We can see this in other holidays pinned to a specific day of the week, such as Thanksgiving.

Pretty much. If big brother is watching you, smile and wave, drop some redpills.
but good information hygiene keeps freelancing indians/nigerians and hackers from having much of a trail to go off of though, nothing but cold footprints by the time they get ahold of any data their buying/hacking in bulk.

WatchDogs 1 was soft disclosure

Because as I explained earlier, I am not worried about being doxxed because I ghostwalk
I also know what I can say and cannot state online that can be used against me in court both state and federal
If you just keep your head cool and don't let yourself actually believe ending sentences "in Minecraft) magically protects you from inciting violence against government officials, then you will be ok.

The most someone can do with a dox is ddos your wifi or send pizzas to your house. retarded shit like that really. sure they can swat you but then that gets the person who did the swatting in trouble for wasting the governments time and money.

Hence why it's called a "theory." Not saying I fully believe it myself (don't kill the messenger!), but it is a popular one and I figured it was worth sharing.

Not necessarily. The current administration is taking more extreme measures than the previous one. New people, new ideas, new rules.

I'm not personally completely sold on the honeypot theory myself, but the recent leaks do make me lean towards the idea that 4chan was controlled opposition all along. The leaks about the censored words and mods controlling speech at least make me raise an eyebrow. They were also censoring about Gamergate and certain politics were enforced by the admins. It seems 4chan wasn't the untouched habitat we were led to believe, at least.

If it wasn't the government, then it was a clique of admins on that I have no doubt.

I wanted the IP count because the ratio of posts/unique ips is useful info. 150 posts/140 unique ips = shit thread, people shouting at the wind and no one replying to no one. 150 posts/10 IPs = high amount of samefagging. That's info, why are you advocating for the removal? Simping for such a slimy move by 4chan admins.
The real hassle for VPN and IP hopping was the 15 min captcha.

Honestly if you were never banned for absolute bullshit reasons, you're just a newfag, lately before the hack jannies were getting uppity and brazen with those bans
