Does anyone know what's actually got him so fucked in the head? My money is on bipolar disorder or something similar.
He was also a child star under the command of the house of Mouse and.... well, we know what normally happens to children under their care.
It didn't seem so bad though, or that Shia had escaped fairly unscathed. He
was a pretty rising star and kind of hot commodity in hollywood at one point. He even had some fairly solid roles with Eagle-Eye being of particular note in which he acquitted himself well.
But then along came Crystal Skull in which he wasn't so much criticised as
raked over the fucking coals. The entire movie was a smoking pile of garbage from start to finish (to the point you had to view it in isolation of the other Indiana Jones films to see its merits) but singling out Shia seemed somewhat unfair and the storm he got from it is likely the first time we see a big crack as prior to this he'd been shielded by Disney and actually done pretty damn well in the roles he landed.
He wound up drinking rather heavily at one point and got into a serious car accident (to the point he has plates and screws in his left hand) which is an experience he called "eye opening and terrifying" which could point to another knock. After that, you can tell his career path started its nose dive after
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen wrapped despite having a pretty serious breakthrough and more contacts that most people would kill for.
His filmography after that becomes more and more depressing with him slowly going from "possible lead" to a supporting actor. The only rise really being
Lawless in 2012 but again after that he sank.
He then tried to Daniel-Day-Lewis shit for Fury hoping for a comeback but instead wound up grossing his co-stars out by refusing to bathe during the month-long shoot and then sat there stinking away inside the hot-box that is an M4 tank.
