I think original 8 bled out due to hotwheels being a fucking idiot compared to moot/gookmoot being relatively hands off (apart from handling gg). The exodus from /gg/ was only really /v/ and /pol/, and 4chan was still up. I don't recall any time 4chan has been down for extended period of time like this before, nor a time where hatred for the sites staff was this high.

Fundamentally people are creatures of habit. If it's down for a long ass time and people develop different habits it's gonezo. The myspace => facebook migration was due to a mix of downtime/site instability and hatred for the staff over removing customization options and deleting gimmick accounts. Stuff like this has happened before, and I am praying for 4chans downfall.

I'm WAY LATE to the party but.
You're wrong. 4chan is less sanitized than troonworld, in general, but it's not the case for /vr/ and /doom/ since both subs were pozzed from the very existence of these, if my memory serves me still.
And I doubt Kegan and TerminusEst13 were the only jannies from either troonworld or zgroom.org.
 
When is 4channel going to be back? I miss being able to jump on and get right into posting/viewing without having to login. I'm scared bros I'll be stuck on this site now, but the format isn't as good for news, and I don't like having to login. Plus there were other interesting boards like /ck/ and /o/ which are now gone. Why did they have to take 4chan down? Couldn't it have been reddit or CNN or some troon website? 😢🫤😥

If the site comes back before 6 months mostly everyone will go back to it, including and especially the schizos. If it takes longer than that, I'm not sure what would happen. I guess it would recover users over a longer period of time, and the tourists would take even more time to come back.
Personally I think it will be back up during May. Hiro may be a deadbeat admin but even he must feel the lack of shekels flowing in.

There was an old one line troll that I don't remember the exact details of, but it was a "Did You Know?" type factoid that explained that the cartoon character named "Grape Ape" originally came from characters saying "Great Rape, Ape!" after he forcibly anally plundered innocent young white wimmenz.
