Summary so far:

• they claimed that the person managed to order the skulls without paying for anything

So, unfortunately, this will go nowhere. They gave the skulls back on purpose for some reason and they never went into evidence, and it's somewhat conceivable that someone could do it by putting it on a tab or something. Not only that, but the FBI can't catch the super pranksters apparently so there won't even be a confirmation the other way around.

I just find it funny the way he claimed to have handled the package. So since it was shipped directly from the website it came in a box with SKULL written all over it and a packaging slip outside the box.... Ethan also says he wasn't even there when they opened it, people are acting like they killed his first born child and sent him his skull in the mail.

This is why streamers eventually stop doing PO box streams where they ask viewers to send them stuff to open on stream (also what a weird concept, "send me free stuff guys") someone is gonna send you something insane. Ethan should already have all his mail forwarded to a po box not his home residence and its so funny to me that he saw a box with SKULL written all over it and packaging that says 1 x human skull and just handed it off to the crew to open lol.

Apparently whoever sent the skulls sent them in Ethan’s name and bought it on a purchase order so Ethan would be stuck with the bill. The phone number was apparently fake too. Dan said on stream last night and said they’d spoken to the merchant via email; apparently they were begging them to send the skulls back.

I think if none of the other stuff was happening, the skulls in the PO Box wouldn’t be as big of a deal. If it was shipped directly, the skull wouldn’t be the evidence anyway. It’s all about locating whoever placed the order which the company itself could help more with than Ethan.

I don't think that's true. What charges would come from this? Some form of criminal intimidation charge? And what's relevant in this case? Well, the object used to intimidate is definitely relevant. Perhaps the jury would need to know if this object was intimidating. So yes, this is 100% admissible evidence and shouldn't have been missed.
There's an enormous difference in showing a jury a skull vs. showing the jury a cheap fax copy of a browser screenshot.
Not only this is relevant evidence for a criminal case, this is relevant evidence of a potential civil case which Ethan could pursue in the future, so I don't understand how his lawyer allowed this to just let it slip from his fingers.
They could just ship it to the police and the shop wouldn't be able to get it back, and it would basically be their problem to retrieve the skulls once the investigations/cases were over.

The only rational explanation to all of this is that everyone is just very dumb and not very competent, which I guess it happens.
