I wonder about this too, whether any criminal investigations or pending civil actions would delay or at the very least complicate getting 4chan back up and running. It might partially explain why owners and admin are being so tight lipped about it.

Anyone else not a refugee but posts/lurks here a lot more now? 4chan was gay, but the rest of the internet more so outside of sites like this.

id been lurking here since the whole chris chan isabella janke debacle but then kiwifarms got wrecked before i could make an account. the only other places i can think of on the internet that would give the same vibes as 4chan but arent imageboards are relatively slow forums, this place, and some spaces on discord. everything else is too caught up in politisperging or has powertripping admins, many of the troon variety. there used to be so many different niche forums that you would have been able to go to and not have to wait a week for a single reply, but now it feels as if the walls are closing in on the internet as a whole.

It's XenForo 2.3 so they require at least PHP 5.4 (but recommend PHP 8.3 as of the latest version)
I have no doubt that Null is running the latest version where possible.

Most modern websites would be either 5.6, 7.4 or one of the latest versions of 8.x
The only reason to stay on an older version is for compatibility for things that may have been removed in a future version.
