They played it smarter here you have to give them that, there was no massive window for people to shit all over their game before it came out. The game comes out and gets all the day 1 soy marketing before anyone can even start critiquing it and i'm sure bethesda will start to do this more now.

OG Oblivion sure has issues but Bethesda didn't want to make this remaster too good because it could have out shined Todd Howards crown jewel, the magnum opus Skyrim.

Who wants female characters in video games that look like your mom with all the obesity and saggy tits jigglin' in the wind bud? Playing video games is usually about getting a little break from reality, to play through your fantasy. Sure if your fantasy is to play as some Type B mammoth with blue hair go for it, thats why the character creator is there but they shouldn't make shit like that as the standard.

Starfield's engine isn't awful, but Starfield wasn't a good showcase. That said, the hybrid seems to work for Oblivion to inject all the TES faggotry into an engine not built to support that weirdness. Maybe that will be their choice going forward.

What most people don't understand about corporations is that few people inside the company give a flying fuck about how profitable it is. Your salary and promotions are rarely all that connected to the overall success of the company, even at the executive level. Tons of American CEOs have destroyed the companies they ran because their bonus scheme could be gamed in a way that was actively harmful to the company.

Amen brother, I played for 5 months before burning out but I will say that the most fun I've had in years was when I went south from Old Ebonheart to Almas Thir and back up north along the other side of the river to Andothren for one of the Mage's guild quests. That is how you build a world, going from town to town, doing small quests, getting involved in local politics, capturing runaway slaves, stumbling on a mephala shrine filled with spider daedra and running around like a bitch.
I can't wait until they finally release the grand tournament in Old Ebonheart.

New update coming 1st of May. Love that the project is going strong atm. Also loved the first proper glimpse of Cyrodil.

Todd was pretty insistent that they were committing to Creation for the long haul. But this weird mashup of the two engines, with Unreal somehow layered on top of Oblivion, makes me wonder if they won't do something similar for ES6 to make it more visually impressive. I, personally, would much rather they just get better overall art direction rather than slap ultimate 22K super sampling anus hair renderers on a generic art style. Skyrim's aesthetic is very strong, everything they've made since the guy who did that died has looked ugly and poorly thought out.
