And look at where they are now. The club is soulless and can't even build a solid base. Their recruitment is garbage and it all stems down from the incompetence and indifference from the owners who are only there to make bucks. It's a business to them and the community doesn't matter. This sounds likely indeed. They had done last work on a PDO variant of their DB code in sept 2024, which would be necessary to migrating to any version of PHP beyond 7.4. It was in the code leak, but hadn't actually be set in the variables to run at the time of the leak, so it's obvious they knew they needed to rush up into the modern age.

This is why I presumed they needed a month: they took that long to port the mysql_* setup to PDO, and still hadn't implemented it. They needed time to bug out that code, test it in pre-prod, finalize it, and then push it. They'd then need to fix the other elements of the un-modern code, which were minor and easily fixed.

To think they were ignorant is false, though: they knew. they were just being slow. Now that their assess got burnt, they rushed ahead and pushed to prod all they had that was good + bigfixing the last problem with the PDFs.

That's how they got where they're at now. I'd say to mark that.

Seems like so much of the 4chan team's current issues come from the seething hatred generated from their refusal to communicate with the people they rule over. And that is the exact thing they did during the downtime – no proper communication. What actions did they take upon returning? carried on banning criticism, no communication, no place to vent user frustration.

I feel the Sharty is the least of 4chan's worries. What they did was a prank. They didn't go as far to leak payment info or any of that shit. But they also did something in the middle of that. The source code got leaked. 4chan is on a timer right now. People are figuring out how it works, actual hacking groups with malicious intent. The next time won't be a prank I fear.

The only issue is that scattering the userbase across several different althcans and kiwfarms just makes the community less active, I'm not advocating for 4chan itself but there needs to be a full and proper replacement if the community wants a new active website that isn't owned by mossad
