Nintendo Switch 2 Meltdown

Let's return to the Nintendo Switch 2 video, a snippet you already saw earlier. Unfortunately, the video has since been deleted without any archives, but we do have another snippet that very clearly shows the whole point of his video

As you can imagine, this kind of opinion angered a lot of people, especially since he essentially used the death of Satoru Iwata, the CEO of Nintendo, to justify anti-consumer practices. In response to criticism, Jerrel decided to go with an interesting approach, playing the pity card. You see, there's a reason why he was so positive about Nintendo Switch 2 prices was because several of his friends whom he cared about died. He also has a friend who's currently dying of cancer, so he cannot be so harsh on Nintendo because that would bring him negativity, since he needs to be strong and calm to be there for his friend :story:

Thankfully, we don't have to guess because Jerrel posted another video, this time it is called "Thank you Hypnotic, Smash JT & Vara Dark". This video is incredibly weird, he basically spent the entire time licking their asses talking about how they are "team" working together for one goal. You see, Jerrel doesn't just talk about video games and the industry; he also talks about his life. One such video is about how he fought a guy trying to stab people in the shopping center

According to himself, an insane guy was trying to stab people with a screwdriver in the shopping centre, so he decided to grab a chair in case the guy decides to strike, so he could block this insane dude's attack. The story gets even better from here. A different guy pushes Jerrel and grabs the chair from him and tells him, "Hey, cut it out, you're gonna make him hate you" $:\$ , so he essentially has to fight 2 retards at the same time :story:

. Then, at the very end, Jerrel decides to cap off the story by saying that it's a perfect allegory for today's gaming industry for some reason :story:

Buck Broken By Nintendo / Silver Falls: 3 Down Stars Failure Saga

3 Down Stars is one of the games in the Silver Falls series that Jerrel's company, Sungrand Studios, is known for. The game would debut on January 2nd, 2020. Jerrel spent years of his life on this game, only for it to turn out to be a huge failure, and it turned out that way for one big reason: just look at this review from Destructoid

There are many more baffling design decisions or ideas hampered by poor execution I could cover, but honestly, this is way too long a review already and I’m only going to get more upset the further I dig. I wish there was some redeeming value to Silver Falls: 3 Down Stars or it ended up in a “so bad it’s good” situation, but it’s just a bland survival-horror game that’s light on scares and heavy on aggravation. When I wrote about it back in 2018, I had hope it would end up as one of the great final games for my beloved Nintendo 3DS. But after a month of struggling to get through it, that hope is dead

Jerrel would address the issues on his YouTube channel with every video getting more and more desperate and inhaling more and more copium to the point where he straight up implied that the reason for the game's failure and its bugs was because Nintendo sabotaged it. Because you see, according to Jerrel, the issues present in the game were completely gone in the version he sent out to Nintendo to publish on their store, and he doesn't know how to fix it. What's even more funnier is that despite being absolutely BUCK BROKEN by Nintendo, he still has the power to suck their dicks off and shill for them like there's no tomorrow. One video in particular shows his obsession with this company. In this video, he's talking in a very delusional way, as if Doug Bowser himself is gonna see this video; he genuinely thinks that he's big enough for them to notice him :story:

Jerrel Oliver Dulay was a complete retard from the very beginning. He was never an "industry professional." he's hardly even a "professional" in any of the industries he took a part in. He's a lying grifter who managed to get lucky and rode off on that success, but sooner or later, people saw what he really was. Nowadays, all of his videos keep getting dislike bombed while he seethe replies to the hate comments on YouTube that now take up 99% of all of his newer videos

I can't hate Jerrel. I came across his channel during the buildup to Assassin's Creed Shadows and really enjoyed his straight-faced tongue-in-cheek approach to the topic of the day. I haven't done a deep dive into his history before then so I don't know what he's said in a lot of the "let's hang out together" style videos he's made (which are the ones I find least interesting anyway), but I got the impression a couple times that along with making his own games he would occasionally work as a consultant with other game studios. If that's the case, that means he would legitimately have the opportunity to prompt change from the inside the industry beyond just his own games, I just think that his recent explosion in YouTube popularity plus a touch of the 'tism likely caused him to overestimate both his own influence and the influence of his views on the channel over those jobs.

And I do think the way he tried to handle the situation indicates that at the very least he has a tough time imagining himself in the shoes of others. All the excuse-making reeked of "well this argument would make me feel better about someone, so surely everyone will treat me better." Then trying to call it a big PR social experiment to get rid of negative people is really mask-off "I just don't get how people work." And... I don't fault anyone for laughing at it, but like a lot of the commenters on the SmashJT video (I only skimmed, but watched the last ~15 minutes), I'm just disappointed, and I honestly think that the weirdness that he's been up to would be far more of a deterrent toward getting those consulting gigs than any of the things he seems to be worried about.

Also I just want to say that I wish he didn't take down his full video on the Switch 2 pricing because being left with just the strawman edits people made of it does make him look worse. I don't remember it in detail and will admit that I came into it already with the perspective that everyone crying about the system being more expensive while the dollar is weaker than ever is capital-r Retarded, but I felt like he argued his point well throughout. Even the ghost-Iwata was, in context, more schmaltzy than how deranged and self-serving it seems when you clip it the way the other videos did.

But in the end, if you hate me for that last paragraph I'm not going to try to psy-op the farms to get rid of "negative people." All that would do is get me a thread here...

I've been passively following this guy since he had that Concord video blow up. I put him some rungs above other antiwoke grifters because he is actually capable of talking about stuff other than woke, and above the other grift-devs because he's at least shipped something and appears to have some hard skills (definitely more than 'ole maldy), but still something feels off.

One thing I notice is that he appears rather affluent. Different suit in every video, several outdoor hobbies, collects instruments and other knick knacks, mentions travel fairly frequently. Did he really have some big wig game industry job before starting Sungrand, does he come from money, does he play some nigger-tier credit card games? Not sure which

I'm thinking he comes from a family with money, there's no way he worked real jobs and also had the time for all of his hobbies and skills. I know he lies about a lot of things, but he has shown musical talent and has made mostly functional games by himself, both of which are time consuming. The suits are an interesting point too, even if he's buying them discounted and/or used, that's still a lot of money being wasted on appearing successful if he is just working a regular job since we know his games don't really sell.

I tried to put on one of his videos every now and then when he started popping up and can't get through a few minutes before checking out. Interesting to find out his history since I couldn't be assed to figure out wtf Sungrand Studio is.
