The argument that it has 0 meaningful influence is retarded when a quick look at the battle system and UI will tell you that the game is inspired by Persona 5 (the way the battle UI looked like it came out of the character) and Paper Mario (QTE). Heck, it even had Persona 5 first strike semi open world exploration where you can strike first.

Not really a JRPG person since I only played 1-3 of them but even then I know that it is just French JRPG.

In all fairness you'd want a game to be compared to something as a frame of reference, why do you think "Souls-like" is so overused? "It's sort of like that Dark Souls game." I'm sure the average Twittard would rather a TL;DR of "FF but better in XYZ regard" than a deep dive into the mechanics. I also think that JRPG has transcended the term to the point where it's used to describe "JRPG-likes" that use similar mechanics etc. It being funded by the Chinese is certainly lending credence to the destruction of the Japanese in the gaming industry angle however. If China truly is number one then I suppose we'll see it on display when they win in every category like Western and JRPG. Synth has also been enjoying his Chinaslop hasn't he? I thought he liked AI Limit as well as Expedition 33 so far. He said Wukong was good as well compared to the competition. Mediocre Chinaslop might just be the future for gayming.

The only concession that I can make is that it was made with a team of 30 people while Game Freak and Compile Heart (easily the most egregious in terms of unpolished Japanese games) have well over 100 people working on a project at a given time.

Outside of that, I am personally not going to use this game to put down Japanese games. I however see merit in making fun of Final Fantasy and how Square Enix has been increasingly turning all of their games mechanically into Kingdom Hearts.

If this was Chinese or Korean games, then yeah, because anything anime inspired from them ends up mogging Japan nowadays thanks to them going all in on ESG and DEI.

The "complete disdain over the japanese industry" makes me remember the late 2000's, so nostalgic now.

I used to be really into JRPGs during the snes-ps1-ps2 era but now I can't really get into them.

The blatant "inspirations" for E33 are kind of a turn off to be honest and I don't feel like trying it out.

You know, it would not surprise me if most western devs (especially modern ones) constantly seethed about japdevs similar to how western animation seethes about japanimation.
Phil Fish's entire circle did just that openly before goyiumgate.
Maybe one of the big reasons you see them whiling to work with the ChiComs isn't money alone, but to finally stick it to the japs?

I agree but there hasn't really been a compelling number FF since X. XII, XIII, XV, XVI all range from bland to mediocre
>FFX
>bland to mediocre

Heresy.
Mediocre Chinaslop might just be the future for gayming.
I hate to say it… but China has some really cool looking shit in the works right now. Who knows how those’ll go, but I may have to kneel down and submit to my Chinese masters for my bread and circuses.

I've seen nothing excellent from them, nothing that has an iconic or groundbreaking quality like the western and Japanese industries were able to at one time produce
Huge emphasis on the "were". In the gaming landscape, Chinese games aren't all that impressive, considering they tend to be extremely derivative of things from years ago, but compared to the goyslop ejected by neo-western studios...
It's like finding a few of specs of gold copper on top of a mountain of shit.

"I agree but there hasn't really been a compelling number FF since X. XII, XIII, XV, ... " -that gunter guy

soy, there's a period after X (or FF10). meaning X is the end point/ cut-off of what he doesn't consider mediocre to bland. After X, he then lists the misses for him.

If you had played those Chink slop mobile games you've already experience the whole package.
Generic mediocre rpg mechanic with gooning elements, they aren't that deep.
The reason why these slops are considered to be "masterpiece" now is cause how woke and shit western games have become.

Yeah I don’t think chinese games can really hold foot on their own as their famous games so far has been X but with bigger budget. Black Myth Wukong is souls / ninja gaiden like, Genshin is just BoTW ripoff, and many others. Their primary focus is to create something that sells, never one that was purely for fun or unique.

In Japan we got very unique creator like Swery, Suda51, Shinji Mikami whose games ideas are always weird. They like to try out something new which doesn’t always bring in the money. I don’t remember China having this sort of unique director, probably because they want to stamp out individuality to make something that is not wholly offensive to the country itself. The same can be said to Korea, whose innovation has been MMO addiction and Boobs on shitty gameplay (Look up Electric Underground review of Stellar Blade for a critical one)
